Good reaction. This song first appeared during the 2018 tour. At that time Su-metal was performing it as a solo, so she was free-styling the dance and rocking out, which is always good to see. Also at that time we did not know the song title - somebody spotted a set list where it was listed as 'Tattoo' (tattoo as in beating a rhythm rather than as in scribbling a permanent design on your arm). When the album was released in October 2019 we finally found out that 'Kagerou' is the song title - and now Su wasn't alone on stage, Moa and the chosen Avenger were up there with her and with this whole new choreography. The Kami Band of the West were the ones in this video, this was their chance for a bit of solo magic. They supported BABYMETAL throughout the 2019 US and the UK & Europe tour of 2020. In order of solos they were Chris Kelly, CJ Masciantonio, Clint Tustin and Anthony Barone.

This is my favorite mature BabyMetal song.

Jumping onto last 3rd BabyMetal album you can clearly see their more mature side, our little girls becoming "super ladies" just make all of us proud. Oh that swing Moa-chan and the swag on the girls ❤️ Kagerou is one of their songs showing that mature side of BabyMetal on 3rd album "Metal Galaxy". Started as a SuMetal solo in 2018 but in 2019 during live at The Forum they showed up with full formation and one _avenger_ taking the place of third spot as a backup dancer, in that case was Riho Sayashi. Fortunately this live compilation is watchable with another footage of Legend Metal Galaxy 2020, with Momoko Okazaki as the avenger, and both with the blaster sound of Western Kami Band and that melting face intro. Nice thing that you get the meaning of the song, sometimes even japanese native got hard times on figuring out the meaning on certain songs. I really wish some of them are watching your reactions so you can get more feedback about this and translation. My recommendation for you is to go back to 1st and 2nd album songs, to get to know the evolution of the group and how did they get here, you didn't even listen one song from 2nd album, so at least go for Karate and Road Of Resistance. - Karate, live at Download Festival 2016 is safe to react, "kitsune6001" got a version with a short interview intro so you can know the girls a little bit more. - Road Of Resistance live in Japan 2015 official live MV, is a blast but heavily blocked, you can look for that and other versions like Tokyo Dome at Babymetal Reactor Resource ch. with watermarked logo safe to react, just remember the logo is for us, without logo is for you. Additional from 1st album you got safe to react, live at Budokan 2014: - Catch Me If You Can with Kami Band intro, GuilhermeCait ch got that. - Rondo Of Nightmare, with Mischiefs Of Metal Gods Intro, an incredible SuMetal solo. - Akatsuki, another SuMetal solo. - Song 4, Black Babymetal subgroup with only YuiMetal and MoaMetal. From Legend 1997, you can find: - Onedari Daisakusen, Black Babymetal. - Babymetal Death, a mind-blowing finale. Whatever you decide always a pleasure to see you coming back with more BM songs. Oh btw totally agree with your thoughts, sometimes people need to mature a little bit more to get BM and what is all about. 😉 See you next time and kitsune up 🦊🤘

⚡ 💕 / 🌡 🔥 Su and Moa have talked about presenting a more adult version of "Kawaii Metal" as they get older. They often mention 'Elevator Girl', but I think this song is a better example. They've also mentioned that it took a while to get used to the more agressive Metal sound of their Western Kami Band. IMO, this is the best pure rocker they've given Su since 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!'. I've loved this one ever since it was a Su-metal solo song called 'Tattoo' on the 2018 tour. The choreography is a lot of fun. Both Su's freestyling in the original version, and the living heat wave with Su, Moa + a support dancer that it is now. Of course most folks were pretty happy to see "The Kamis From the West" with solos. That was Chris Kelly and CJ Masciantonio on guitars, Clint Tustin on bass and Anthony Barone on drums. This compilation footage had both Momoko Okazaki and Riho Sayashi as supporting dancers.

Your reaction made me very happy. I know it is hard to follow the lyrics (English subtitles) and react to it, but I would always like you guys, reactors to share the BM's wonderful world of the lyrics. However, I do not intend to force you to do so at all. Also, The interpretations of BM's lyrics are rarely announced officially. I have commented on Kagerou in the past, but as far as I know, there are no reviews in music magazines of Japan. I have written almost exclusively my own interpretations. Of course, you are right, everyone has their own way of seeing it. The only indication that Kagerou is a love song, is in the third verse, 'flames of jealousy'. I am actually an ignorant man about love (haha...), but when I listen to this song, I never imagine a vulnerable woman questioning a man as she broods. I imagine Su-'s powerful vocals questioning the man, on equal footing with the partner. In fact, there is another hidden meaning to Kagerou. It is the meaning of the insect, Mayfly. And I believe it is an analogy for the fleeting nature or fragility of love, since Mayflies live only a few days as adult insects. This is explained in detail in Professor Hartley's reaction video. In Japan, from Rakugo of the Edo Era to modern Soap Operas, we love stories with this kind of love-hate theme between men and women in Japan. This could be an interesting comparative cultural theory if you delve deeper into this area, haha. Thank you so much from Japan.

I love this more mature side of BABYMETAL and I believe this might be the new Kawaii future. Kagerou is one of my favourites to listen/watch. I don't think that you are " looking too deep into the meaning" of the song. Every BABYMETAL song I have come across has a deeper meaning than what even appears on the surface. Even Gimme Chocolate... it is more than someone wanting chocolate. This is all due to the amazing work that is put into the thought of the lyrics. There is a Professor Hartley here on KZbin that is a fan of BABYMETAL and breaks down the songs and gives us his analysis. He has several videos that are quite enlightening. It has opened my eyes to how much more there is to BABYMETAL songs than I first thought and allows me to love BABYMETAL even more. I really appreciate your reactions and look forward to more. 🤘🦊🤘

I do like the older side of BM but not so sure if I'm mad about a lack of crowd participation in many of their newer songs - but this track happens to be my fav having said that :P

Good Reaction! Yes. You are right. People often complain that they want to see the girls in their natural state, that they want to see their true communication with the audience, that Babymetal is a product, that it is artificial, but if the girls interrupt their routine for even a moment to flirt with the audience, the long hours and effort they put into their practice will collapse at that moment! What is the actual communication between the band and the audience? What is actually the communication between the band and the audience? Hi, hello, thanks for coming, that's all and that's enough.

👍 You mentioned (as I have heard so many others say) that people seem to either like or dislike BabyMetal. In my opinion the people that dislike (many anyway) do not like BabyMetal because they have not watched them perform songs such as this or Shine, or BxMxC LIVE. Kagerou is one of my to 5 songs by these young ladies. Not only is it a beautiful song/performance but it highlights what BabyMetal is all about - choreography, dynamic vocals, stage presence and musicianship.
