Guys, I've listened to this song so many times while editing and I'll be honest - our reaction doesn't even come close to the adulation this song deserves. It's simply beautiful and everyone involved deserves the highest of praise. Artists deserve the world for making us feel the way we do. Thank you to them. What are your thoughts?

Babna Karim, the first vocalist, wrote it by the shores of Cox’s Bazar in the early 90s during a batch tour with his BUET (a reputed Bangladeshi public university) classmates. He was emotionally vulnerable at the time, having just lost his elder brother. In an interview, Babna Karim mentioned that while he had the tune in mind for a while, the words came to him during that tour. He didn't bring his guitar, being quite introverted, but later borrowed a friend's guitar to sing the song to his friends in a dark room at a rest house by the shore. To him, this song is a hymn to the love of existence itself, a reminder to cherish being alive. Listening to it now, while residing in a BUET hall, gives me goosebumps. (By the way, Bruce's glasses look really good 👌)

Get to know about the artist first before making comments on 'em. Warfaze is another name of love for Bangladesh and it's music. Cheers to the music! Thanks for reacting on Bangladeshi songs. The aged man, Babna Karim, who was singing completed his Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering with a grade of 3.98 out of 4.00 from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He joined as a faculty teacher at BUET. Then he went to the USA for his Masters in Industrial Engineering. He completed his Masters with a perfect grade of 4.00 out of 4.00 from Texas Tech University!! He is now a professional engineer at Honeywell company. He now lives in Houston, USA with his family.

To understand the song imagine you are standing in front of a seashore alone on a moonlit night, where no people around, no sound from ships, only you and the sea face to face. It gives the feeling that you are so small in front of a vast natural phenomenon. All you want is to enjoy the peace and serenity of silence. The first singer Babna Karim, is the lyricist and composer of the song., original singer. The second singer Palash Noor is the current vocalist of Warfaze. Babna an alumnus of BUET, later lecturer of the same university, now a US-based professional mechanical engineer, penned down the song on 29th Feb 1992 at a resthouse in Cox's Bazar. He first performed in front of 17 classmates on their vacation that night. later the song became the title track of the OBAK BHALOBASHA album of the band. This version is a memorabilia for the 40th anniversary of the mighty Warfaze. Coke Studio surprises audiences by starting the song with the original singer Babna. The primary plan was that Babna would carry out the song, later Palash's voice was recorded as the "passing the baton" to the current generation of Warfaze and Gen Z, to make a timeless or forever impression from generation to generation. Several compositions were prepared by Warfaze keyboardist Shams Mansoor Ghani and were rejected to finalize the CSB version. Two lead guitarists played the lead riff, one with white deadlock Ibrahim Ahmed Kamal. He is one of the guitar maestros along with Ayub Bacchu. The second lead guitarist is Samir, the youngest member of the band. He is one of the producers of the CSB version. Enjoy.

The melody, lyrics, and visuals of "Obak Bhalo Basha" by Coke Studio Bangla evoke a sense of healing for souls and hearts through music and love. This timeless duty is passed down from one generation to the next. The presence of two vocalists, sitar players, guitarists, and flutists symbolizes this transition, with each pair representing the elder passing the healing baton to the younger. Set against the serene backdrop of a starry night by the sea in Cox's Bazar, the ambiance evokes an eternal sense of love and healing, where nature and music blend to soothe and uplift. It is about celebrating our existence , feeling how beautiful this gift of God is. Life. Thank you, Warfaze and Coke Studio Bangla, for this healing effort.

Weird transcription. Write -ś- for স/শ/ষ except when they are followed by র/ন/ত or preceded by হ, when it becomes -s-. Transcribe অ as -ô-, and ও as -ō-, but for accurate pronunciation, I would say apply them whenever the general sound of the letter is applied. Transcribe আ as -a-, চ as -c-, ছ as -ch-, and for chandrabindu (ঁ), add tilde above vowel (ã, for example). Also, don’t write guitar in Bangla the same as in English...no -u- sound really. Finally, if you want to separate murdhonno (ট, ঠ, ড, ঢ), capitalize the letters for the dontto (ত, থ, দ, ধ) ones as in -t-/-d-, or keep them as they are.

Bangla band music(and other genres as well) was so darn popular during 90's, 00's & early 2010's that international bands & musician's albums didn’t sell as much as LRB, Nagabaul, Warfaze, Miles, Asif, Kanak Chapa etc..... but because of access to internet increase, availability of smartphone & pandemic has halted the progress of Bangla music for almost a decade because now people listen more to foreign musicians & bands and doesn’t give chance to new musicians so even the musicians are copying works of foreigners. I`m glad Coke Studio is bringing the interest in Bangla music back and also spreading its greatness across the world

It's no doubt that you feel there are similarities in Bangladeshi and Japanese music. It's because of the similarities in what the people from both countries value in life. Bangladesh and Japan have a long-lasting friendship. Japanese engineers and other professionals have helped Bangladesh building its infrastructure for decades since Bangladesh's independence in 1971. Some of them even learnt to speak Bangla, which is not an easy language to learn, as they stayed and worked in Bangladesh. Both are Asian countries with a lot of cultural and societal similaries in terms of preserving their traditions, treating elders and much more. Thanks for reacting to this musical masterpiece.

Yes, and it doesn't sound FUNNY in our language. It's a deep emotional song. And about the band's name, Warfaze is a heavy metal band from the 80's. They have hard core metal songs. This is just a variation of their soft rock image.
@anisaliu34437 ай бұрын
While "surprised love" is the literal translation of অবাক ভালোবাসা, I do believe "wonderful love" works better for English, which is probably why CSB went for it. Literal translations don't really work for poems and songs. Feelings and emotions are written differently in every culture. Conveying emotions across languages often needs a meaningful reconstruction than just word-to-word translation.
@tanzilkhan247 ай бұрын
@@anisaliu3443 may be, but I would still say "Surprised Love" is more appropriate, not just literally but in actual. There is one more thing coke studio mentioned in the description part, that they are a rock band, which they are not, they are a metal band, who did a few rock numbers and some on the softer side as well. been following them for three and half decades now.
@RyanaQuadir7 ай бұрын
@@tanzilkhan24 'Surprised love' shouldn't be the actual translation. It's rather 'strange love'. But yes, the Rock genre should be replaced by Metal of course. That's defining them in a wrong way.

While listening to the original Bengali version of this timeless song by Babna Karim, one may read the English translation of the Bengali lyrics posted by Coke Studio, Bangla: May all the lights dim down to darkness Only, let them stay awake - Those faraway stars. May all the words quieten to dead silence Only, let this ocean stay. Along with me ... Ahaa Ahaa... Ahaa... May all pains be swept away By a storm of bliss Let my heart be filled with Simple serene dreams. Deep down in my soul, with a startled stare The eternity is standing motionless right here. Ahaa... Ahaa... On the seashore of white sands In the careless breeze, With guitar in my hands. Silence is now shattered into shards Strumming wild, I cry out in amazing passion As if the diamonds, rubies & emeralds, Together, in the heart of the ocean, Weaving sublime patterns with A wonderful love! Timeless Love!
