South Coast Beaches of Sri Lanka! PART 3 Travel Itinerary (includes Mirissa, Dalawella Swing, Galle)

Hi team Lens Cap, over the last 2 weeks we have been discovering the delightfully diverse and perfectly picturesque island of Sri Lanka. In my other videos, we have covered the cultural triangle, hill villages (PART 1) and even safari with majestic leopards in Sri Lanka (PART 2). It’s been a dream, with some of the most compelling vistas, delicious food, gorgeous sights, exciting adventures and engaging people, I ever could have dreamed of.
We only had 2 weeks to travel Sri Lanka and in our initial itinerary I had ambitiously included a 5 day trip to the Maldives… But in order to visit Maldives in the time frame we had, we would have needed to skip the entire south and south western coastline of Sri Lanka… home to some of its best beaches. The end result saw us leaving Maldives off the itinerary and instead spending this time in Sri Lanka on its beaches… Did we regret it? Why or why not? … stay tuned to find out ;)
Our holiday includes Hambantota, Tangalle, Mirissa, Secret Beach, Weligama Beach, Ahangama, Dalawella Beach and Dream Cabana, Unawatuna Beach, Jungle Beach, Galle, Bentota and a Madu River Safari.

Yes nature in Sri Lanka is stunning, but it is important to have content on Sri Lanka's history and place in the world. It is one of the top 5 civilizations of the world from 300BC to 1500BC - the ancient kingdoms of Anuradharapura and Polannaruwa were up there with the Roman Empire, Greeks, Egytpians, Han Dynasty and Maurya empires. Mindfulness was first written down in the world in Sri Lanka in 100 BC. It had some of the most advanced hydraulic engineering systems in the ancient world, with enormous reservoirs (tanks) and canals, enabling large-scale agriculture in a tropical environment. Education, art and culture were world-leading. Unfortunately Portuguese, Dutch and British came and destroyed much of this and extracted much of the country's resources and left the people fighting each other. At the moment Sri Lankan people are not their best, but write off such an ancient, innovative and resilient people at your own cost.

Hi! We booked our driver prior to arriving in Sri Lanka. We had a few recommendations and WhatsApp numbers. It is possible to book on arrival at the airport but we didn’t want to take the chance.
