Elevators and More by Jeff Householder It's just a hotel key, besides, I keep them for my collection. They wouldn't work for every single hotel. Each place has it's own specific coding to unlock different doors and locks. For example, Every hotel key, whether it's RFID or magnetic, is programmed with a 'hotel code' This is usually to access everywhere guests can use (Like the pool or gym, or in this case, the elevators.) Along with that, there is a 'room code' Which allows you to unlock your room and your room only. Lastly, there is an 'employee code' which accesses everything in the hotel including service corridors and hotel rooms for cleaning and restocking.
