One of my favorite episodes! Oh that young family with the beautiful children, so lovely! What a wondrous house for them! My husband and I are of the age of the older couple, we also want something better and comfy like they were searching for. Glad they started looking for themselves :). So funny when Phil said the one property was a many thousands below the asking price, eeg!

Hi from Port Burwell Ontario! I love what you both have done with your beautiful chateau. I have a great trick for stripping wallpaper. Fill a spray bottle with 3 parts warm water and 1 part fabric softener. Saturate the paper let it sit for a bit and it will loosen up the old glue. Sometimes I will do a section let it sit for an hour the spray again before scraping. Good luck!

I think you´ve misplaced your comment! I´m sure it was meant for a chateau restoration channel?

Each of these homes have been very unique - what gets to me with a few of these older homes - that there is no railing on both sides of stairs - a real hazard.
@lysem43928 ай бұрын
I think the Northern Nomads were right to reject the house with the downstairs bathroom. That trek up and down the stairs would have been a drag really, really fast; it would be a drag even for young people. The floor plan didn't look like the ground floor could be reconfigured to create a ground floor suite, nor could a bathroom be created on the bedroom floor without sacrificing the oddly-shaped bedroom. And what if either the wife or the husband got a stroke or broke a hip? That house was not suitable for them. They are lucky to be living in the UK, though. In Canada, once an offer is accepted the house is yours unless some major unforeseen factor crops up.

Really true for old houses but you can get two or more bathrooms in a new build of three bedrooms terrace
@lysem43928 ай бұрын
I noticed that too. Unless it's a very recently built house, There are very few bathrooms, very often only one.

Kitchen in the front is continental. Why have the kitchen at the back 🤣
@lysem43928 ай бұрын
It wouldn't bother me personally. In fact I would actually prefer it. The only thing for a young family is the ability to watch the children in the backyard.

Easier to prep meals for outdoors? Keep the (sometimes messy) view of the kitchen less visible from the front door?

(10:28) The LAST thing you want to put in a long, skinny room... is a long, striped carpet that accentuates the long, narrowness of that room. It's astonishing how clueless people can be.

Duncan remarks on how difficult it is for a man to live with "four girls." Actually, he has a wife and three daughters, and I do hope he doesn't communicate to them that he would have preferred a son somewhere in the mix. Getting a male dog is highly recommended.
@yvonnerahmes96188 ай бұрын
There were 4 girls in our family, our father used to say "four girls, and I only wanted ONE BOY." He thought it was funny, but to us girls, it truly hurt our feelings. Our mom had 3 pregnancies, as she had me and my identical twin at one time.
