Part Six of the ACG Adventures shark special, South Florida sharks, and a sawfish too(close enough). Filmed within the past week of this video coming out, some of the footage was filmed last night!
The waters of South Florida are loaded with sharks of many different species, these incredible animals are found during the day, and often at night. Lets dive in together into the dark and see these amazing animals at night in their natural habitats.
Lemon Shark:
An abundant, inshore tropical shark that inhabits both estuarine and nearshore waters of the Gulf and Atlantic coasts of Florida. Commonly enters estuarine waters and often ventures into freshwater areas, but does not penetrate as far up rivers as the Bull shark. Migrates southward and into deeper waters in the winter months.
Nurse Shark:
Abundant in coastal, tropical, and subtropical waters, Nurse Sharks are a common sight in the nearshore regions of both the Gulf and Atlantic coasts of Florida. Nurse Sharks are among the more frequently encountered species during dives, showcasing their docile nature and distinctive appearance.
smalltooth sawfish: A unique fish with a long, flat, toothed rostrum that extends from its head, often called a "saw". The sawfish's scientific and common names come from this rostrum, which has 24-32 unpaired saw teeth on each side. despite looking like a shark, this animal is in fact a ray!
