The way I see it, not appointing the missing judges seat is indeed very suspicious behaviour. Especially given the current need for all seats to be filled, not even trying to fill them is very strange.

Ruling party already tried appoint missing judge several month ago, but at the time opposition party denied. You should know the behind story of inner South Korea politics. Also they passed the impeachment of acting-president as a 'Prime Minister', which means National Assembly can bass the impeachment only 151 vote out of 300. But, according to the Constitution, only president can appoint missing judge. So if they want to pass the impeachment bill, the number of the vote should be 201. Why opposition party's definition of acting-president and prime minister is different depending on their interest?

@ I doubt so. Yoon Is disposable but the party has to stay. They just cannot leave a full victory to Lee.

@@lemongreensg Of course South Korea should do. Lee Jae Myeong allegedly sent money to North Korea, and already his associate are sentenced 2 years in prison because of it. Not only for this case, there are so many illegal activities he did and this is also mentioned in US Congressional Research Service (crsreports.congress.gov/search/#/?termsToSearch=south%20korea&orderBy=Relevance) " IN12474|South Korean Political Crisis: Martial Law and Impeachment"

Note: all 3 former Korean presidents, from the now Democratic Party, finished their terms without difficulty and returned safely to their hometowns immediately afterwards. Official presidents who have been impeached or jailed after their terms are all applicable only to the current ruling party, the conservative party aka now People's power

Totally nonsense. Opposition party has been denying to fill in the missing position for a long time, against ruling party because to protect their leader Lee Jae Myeong, who is involved in a lot of crime.

to those who believe in God: the current situation in South Korea is not a game of winning or losing. while one may feel mental exhilaration or the thrill of a psychological victory, take a moment to reflect! if you pause, you will see a distinct form emerging from the battlefield of this struggle. However, if you are too consumed by the fight to recognize this form, you must realize that you are in a grave situation. sons, daughters, and grandchildren, by shouting anti-American sentiments and disregarding the hard work and experiences of their parents and elders, are essentially proclaiming to the world that they will bear the consequences of their actions. do not forget that such actions are also a pledge made before God.

In South Korea, the President reportedly ordered the Defense Minister to "arrest them, even using firearms." The country's top-down organizational culture often forces employees to comply with unreasonable demands, as refusal can lead to negative references, false accusations, or workplace bullying. This is also something to be cautious about during reference checks with Korean companies. This culture likely explains why the Defense Minister took no action during the declaration of martial law.
