First world countries are not rewarding motherhood. It is nothing to do with anything else. To have more than 3 children you should have the option to be a full time mother. It’s not an option for most women who want to be full time mothers. Let me tell you a very precise reason. Other reasons are just additional. This is the strongest reason why Koreans have a low birth rate. The reason is, first of all, the biggest reason is that young people are becoming smarter, but "they realized that they gave birth to a child in a world where they should not have children," and also, "Parents who should not be parents became parents." no see. Korea is a country with an infinitely competitive society that is terrible and horrifyingly unfortunate. Among Koreans, there are a growing number of people who feel skeptical and empty about the reason for life. In particular, many young people feel that they were born to parents who thoughtlessly gave birth. Many Korean parents who do not have the qualifications to be parents become parents, inflicting pain and misfortune through birth, old age, illness, and death on countless children who were forcibly born. When Korean parents give birth to a child, many of them do not think about it and treat their parents carelessly. Please keep two things in mind. 1. If I were a child, would I want to be born to you? 2. If a child has the right to choose their parents, will there be a human being born to me?

If men were forced to actually be providers then maybe more women would take the risk of becoming a housewife but that's what it is, a total risk that you can never feel secure in. When you provide for yourself you are safe.
@AlfonsoDermetris16 күн бұрын
@MoniiChanTheUnicorn you can thank feminism for that.. men were obligated to be providers back in the 1900s and long before that... but now men really aint tryna provide unless they know they have the one... and many women aint tryng be with a man if he cant provide... but you do you.. just good luck never having kids or grandchildren... all thansk to feminism

Can we stop talking about South Korea, it’s like every year either the birth rate drops to a new low or the rate of young people who un-life themselves increases. I think I was 12 when I started hearing about this, now I’m 25. Their government doesn’t want to change, it doesn’t care about their people. So there is no reason for us to keep talking about it. Just move on man talk about something new already. From the looks of it there won’t be any more Korea in a few years, maybe bulgogi will become a Chinese cuisine, kpop a south eastern thing, maybe that’s for the best.
@deadby152 ай бұрын
Something totally drastic is necessary at this stage prolly... Like, all expenses related to raising a child are to be paid by the government.
@parcomolo2562 ай бұрын
That may delay the fall in birthrate, but the trend will continue. I live in a country with high living standards, short working hours, long vacations, highly subsidized childcare (free for single/low income parents), housing subsidies, paid maternity leave, paid sick-leave, universal healthcare and government funded education. The birthrate isn't as low as in SK, but it is low and falling rapidly.

I worked in Korea for four months and the thought of raising a kid in that environment is just ridiculous. It would be weirder if people were trying to pass that lifestyle on en masse. I don’t know what the solution is but we need some kind of spiritual revival and a way of not having life revolve around all the things modern life revolves around. P.S. I went to volunteer on a farm a while back and could’ve easily seen myself raising a kid there after a few months.

We live in a world that sees children as burdens. Where people think it's our careers we sacrifice for family, when in reality we are making the biggest sacrifice, our families, for careers that probably don't provide long term meaning, satisfaction and fulfillment. Now we have people expecting to be paid to raise their own children. Honestly not surprising that birth rates are decreasing. Raising my children has been an absolute honor. There is nothing I would rather do and nothing as impactful, not just in my own life but for society.

The government is considering having women in military service to make up 500k troops that can fight. Thats going to make the birth rates even lower, who wants to have kids when their kid can have a high chance of being drafted to the military? Fighting and dying is very serious. All your time, money spent on that kid will be wiped out, and the hope of your kid taking care of you when old is gone

A 1st grader leaves school for the day before 2. Why? They won’t change it cause then hagwons will have to change their schedule. You don’t need a special bin for diapers. You don’t need 150,000 KRW shirts. No matter how affordable it is parents will put a lot of their budget toward child and education costs. It’s just what people do there. Now everyone has dozens of shoes, free education, accesssible doctors when no strike, rice and year round produce. When food scarce, they charged for middle school and some kids didn’t have one pair of shoes they had 6 kids. Now they can’t have 2?

I do not understand what is the point of all AI and other technologies if we are so much worried about aging population.
