I grew up with Steve Tasios even a very young age he was so gifted trained his heart out. Unfortunately injury prone had a trial with Man UTD although not quite enough at least he was invited to trial with them..

Peter Gee states that many of South Melbourne's home games had to be transferred to Olympic Park. I do not recall this, and cannot think of a reason why. 1989 was a very wet winter, but this game is May 1989.

Looking through my file, we don't seem to have played that many home games at Olympic Park that year. We did play a few games there in midweek because of cup commitments, and the rush to condense the season to allow for the start of summer soccer did mean more midweek league games than would usually be the case.

I think he was getting mixed up with Preston who played their home games at Olympic park that season.

Plated over 50 minutes! Occasionally they would add injury time back then. Which made the decision of the Italian referee not to play ANY injury time in the Australia v Israel WCQ later that year even more scandalous

As per Andrew Howe's explanation for the South Melbourne game against Marconi (which I posted on my blog's match program section) "(originally scheduled as a round 16 game, Andrew Howe provides this note: Round 14 in the initial season fixture was to be played 15-16 April but the entire Round was later transferred to the end of the season with the hype around the Israel WC qualifier 16 April, so effectively the round numbers for all Rounds 15 onward were changed by -1)
