Horrible, terrifying waves.....but also absolutely incredible and beautiful.

It's wild to think how ships of any style or hull design can withstand the constant pounding year after year much like an airframe of a plane...the stress involved is incredible

Breathtaking as to how much the STERN was getting driven & Swapped by the Trialling swell, very very different sinerio when the vessel is be driven by a trailing swell, knot speed increases dramatically an much more turbulent for crew and ship than steaming head long into a swell!

Wow! I wonder what the seas were that day? It looked like mountains out there at times. Great song as well! Easily 40 to 50 ft swells maybe more sometimes?

A following sea is a WHOLE lot different than taking the waves on the bow. Ships are at least designed to take the seas on the bow. A following sea is a wild ride for sure. Nice video, thanks!

@garlandremingtoniii13383 жыл бұрын
Starting at 2:36 and 2 other times before this time, the entire stern gets fully submerged. I do mean fully, Fully submerged folks. From what all I can tell, and I have viewed this part of the view, each stern submerging, it gets at least 10 feet under water. If not more. I am being dead serious folks. It’s almost, A following sea. But it’s favoring the starboard side of the stern juuuuuust a little bit to much to the starboard.

Furthermore, this was easily, a Beaufort Sea State 10 and, 11. At times. The waves are running easily 20 feet to 25 feet. With troughs running between the wave tops, top to top, 50 to 70 feet deep. One can easily determine the depth of the troughs by viewing over the stern, And over on the starboard side right about, amidships.

A following sea like this is the most dangerous for heavy loaded ships as they can lose rudder control and flooding is more apt to occur (engine room)
