Considering the size of this tanker, that wave at 50 seconds is HUGE! It's got to be at least 60 ft/ 20 m high, if not more..I am glad the Croatian sailor and this crew made it safely through this storm!

@morgana34332 жыл бұрын
@@markobrkanic - To zavisi o puno faktora, godišnjem dobu geografskoj širini ruti, a prilično i o srići.

I’ve worked in the North Sea for a few years, not on ships but on a drilling crew on an offshore oil platform.. I can’t say it happened often, but I do recall occasions when we were hit by waves like this. They seem to advance towards you like a succession of mountain ridges, the sheer scale makes them appear to approach in slow motion. Of course we were perched up high but we put a lot of faith in the integrity of the structural design beneath us. And still they kept us working. I remember being halfway up the Derrick, my safety harness clipped to the framework, when my hard hat blew off; I watched it disappear in the sky towards Norway without falling.

I'm thinking the largest wave in the video here is probably around 90ft. For a ship this size, just about 600ft long, the bridge is probably 80ft off the water line, if not more. That wave is clearly as tall if not taller than the bridge, so it's gotta be anywhere from 70 to 90+ feet depending on the height of the bridge. Absolutely insane, I haven't seen a video on KZbin yet with a taller wave.

Psalm 93 and Jesus calmed the raging storm by a command from his lips Mark 4:35-41New International Version (NIV) Jesus Calms the Storm 35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” 39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. 40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” 41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

The master is doing a good job here. The vessel is hove too with the engines running just enough so that the rudder is effective but she is making little headway. Sea coming at a slight angle to the bow makes the ship most comfortable with as few stresses as is possible to the hull.

Can a sail ship from the 17th century survive a storm like this?
@ChrisNIsaac8 жыл бұрын
Yes, she would be hove to and not trying to make any headway. However she would be in great danger. The difficulty would be in keeping her head to the sea. Would need to stream a sea anchor from the bow to achieve this. After having done that then I would recommend prayer, to the god of your choosing !

I was there on the spot on M/T Pula during this storm but I was unable to calculate height of the seas from the ship itself. According to information from land station in this area of Nord Pacific at that time, height of the seas was 20 - 25 meters.

Respect for sailors and lost loves while on duty! lyrics: Play a song tonight for her soul Play a song tonight just for her She was the only woman in my life Let the wind kiss her hair when I can not Quietly, quietly, sea whispers, calling her name again But she is not gonna hear it, she doesnt love me anymore Quietly, quietly wires of old mandolin are crying But she is not gonna hear it, she doesnt love me anymore Quietly, quietly, sea whispers, calling her name again But she is not gonna hear it, she doesnt love me anymore Play a song tonight for her soul Play a song tonight just for her She was the only woman in my life Let the wind kiss her hair when I can not Quietly, quietly, sea whispers, calling her name again But she is not gonna hear it, she doesnt love me anymore Quietly, quietly wires of old mandolin are crying But she is not gonna hear it, she doesnt love me anymore Quietly, quietly, sea whispers, calling her name again But she is not gonna hear it, she doesnt love me anymore

Tanker "Pula" designed and built in shipyard "3. Maj" from Rijeka, Republic of CROATIA. Year 2006th! It is, length and width: 182.4m x 32.2m. All who writing stupid comments, would be nice to educate your self's before comment! And no Croatia it's not and never been part of Russia (Croatia is quite far from Russia) and we are not speaking Russian language, than Croatian language what is quite different language!

Borat Erali Nazarbayev Not to mention they didn't have any way of predicting the weather to give a forecast for the future. Storms and weather today is more extreme than it was back then (on average), but still nothing to scoff at. Lots of ships did sink, killing a lot of people. But I guess the human spirit and perseverance prevailed, and people kept at it, instead of letting fear get the better of them =)

Ships are build to bend if they were stiff, they'd snap like chips. All those stiffeners, bullhead design by naval architecture plays crucial rule. And ships sink 90% due to human error. Bad passage planning and irregulae loading of cargo resulting in losing stability.
