Thanks, David! I’m going to try and use it a little more often. I’m using a prime lens with a 1.8 aperture. The low light shots come out amazingly clear. That bokeh is sweet too.

Robert, just found your channel while doing research on camping on South Padre. I may take a drive down there during Thanksgiving weekend. Just wondering how the Hurricane Damage to the East Cut affected the number of available camp sites down there? I'm working a contract job in Dallas/Ft Worth and it will be about a 7 hour drive there in my Jeep TJ. I'll bring a few trash bags and to some beach cleanup if I'm lucky enough to snag a camp spot while I'm there.

You will have no trouble finding a suitable spot along the beach. It’s not too crowded during the winter months. Just be cognizant of the weather and be on the lookout for severe changes (like a cold front.) A drive from Dallas to SPI is over 11 hours. Less if you go to Padre Island National Seashore in Corpus Christi (obviously.) Good luck and have fun. You’re going to love it.

Mr gx .....man big fan..always true... But yeah man....one thing that my gf and I do is use a regular tarp + 4 collapsible tarp poles + like 17inch stakes.... Cheap..saves space and reliable.. We're not a fan of the regular canopies that end up in the canopy grave yard on the beaches.... It does take two people on windy days but once it's up ...well it's worked for us... It's really hard to find a reliable shade that has been tested in real world beach camping scenarios... MAYBE IT'S TIME GX....MAYBE IT'S TIME

Thanks buddy! Yeah, the overnight gusts were crazy and took it down hard. Thank God there was no serious damage, but I had to struggle to put it away on my own at 3am. Not fun at all. I still like it, but I won’t leave it up again.

Hello, Kevin. You don’t need a permit to camp overnight, but you will be charged a fee at the entrance to Cameron County Beach Access 6. Make sure you take cash because they don’t accept debit cards. Thanks for watching and your support. You’re going to love the experience.

I’m just reading your message! Using an awning is risky because of the strong winds. Most awnings will do fine, but make sure you have the guy lines deployed and anchored tightly.

they opened it back up to camping a few weeks ago, after Hannah. They just recently shut things down again due to Delta. I'm not sure if it's safe again to go out there with the high tides due to the hurricanes.

Hey Robert just stumbled across your channel and I’m planning a trip out there next week. Was wondering what tips you have for fishing out there? I heard you can catch sharks and kinda want to avoid that. So what are the good spots and what type of set up do you like using out there?

Glad you found us! I’m assuming you’re fishing the surf; so you’d want to get a standard double drop rig with a spider weight on it and circle hooks. Cast past the first gut if you can. You’ll find smaller fish in the first gut, but you’ll be surprised once in a while with a nice red or trout. Just pick a safe spot and cast out. You’d want to get a sturdy rod holder. I use a couple of 10’ rods with an 8000 machine spooled with 300yrds of 30lb braid. I’m not an expert at anything, so I’m just giving you the basics. Make sure you take a variety of bait. Mullet should be plentiful so it might be a good idea to take a castnet. Be mindful of the weather and good luck.

I didn’t mention a Chevy Avalanche that was on the north side because I honestly didn’t want people to feel it’s safe to cross. There have been several cars stuck on the north side of mm19 recently so I didn’t want to encourage anyone to do so. Even if you get across safely, you’ll still messing with saltwater.
