You need to leave your battery connected if you need your refrigerator to get on with gas in the event of a power failure at the park or if you want it to work while traveling. To work off LP, it has to still read the thermostat and determine whether it needs to cool or not. Even if you decided that you don't want it to run while driving you probably will want it to run when you are parked if you are not in a site with power.

You’ll get better and more comfortable with tear-downs and set-ups after you do both several times. You’ll also minimize what you do when just stopping for one night.
