It all began to decline with Pawn Stars. They went downhill from there. I remember Modern Marvels, countless documentaries on Bronze, Iron, Medieval, Industrial and Cold War eras. At least we have youtube content makers who make stuff like that.

The History channel between 1995 until about 2000 was actually really good, and had alot of very interesting "Historic" documentaries. Then in the "Reality TV" Craze began ealy 2000's and the channel took a deep dive and never recovered. History was actually my favorite subject in school, so it was a pity to see this channel getting dumbed down just for the sake of views, it turned to Sensationalism.

The whole episode was a spoof of the 2008 Thor movie (one of the ones that started the MCU). Natalie Portman plays Thor's love interest in that movie, she's also played Padme in the 2000s Star Wars Prequels, she played the protagonist in black swan, the girl in Leon and a lot of other movies, especially in the early 2000s she was one of the biggest stars.

Honestly, that's all the History Channel and National Geographic are about now. Aliens. My gf is part cherokee on her dad's side. I'm not sure of the actual level of connection, but I'm pretty sure her connection to that tribe is a lot stronger than the OC they had at the begining of this episode. Natalie portman is an actress, she made her debut (I think) in the Phantom Menace back in 1999, she's been in the MCU movies (Thor specifically, which this episode parodies) playing Jane Foster, Thor's on-again off-again crush. 15 years ago. She's now one of the many celebrities crying and screaming over democracy in the US working the way it should.
