It's parodying media and current social movements I think. In the past 5 or so years a lot of major blockbusters have been about bringing back nostalgic things. It can also be seen in politics too with a lot of older beliefs being front and center in people's campaign's. I think the member berries are trying to say its fine to remember the past but you shouldn't live in it.
