Early season, the boys shit on each other ruthlessly & hated Butters for being a 'Melvin'.. a loser. After they killed off Kenny, they had Butters join the squad, but brought Kenny back after the fans were upset. Everyone enjoyed Butters innocence, so he's still a big character & widely regarded as the best character in the show.

The whole episode is a spoof of 80s teen movies, where there was an underdog kid picked on by a privileged bully--Karate Kid, Just One of the Guys, Teen Wolf, Back to School, etc. This one is most directly tied to Better Off Dead, starring a young John Cusack. Butters is doing the dance one of the kids did onstage in rehearsals during A Charlie Brown Christmas.

The major scam part of time shares is you basically pay yearly dues to reserve a hotel room. Some hotel chains will allow u to use timeshares in different areas, but your still stuck paying yearly fees regardless of whether you go anywhere.
@crisgriffin304210 ай бұрын
Yeah, John Oliver had pretty good episode on that not long ago.

Yep, there are people trying to give away their time shares for free all over the internet. You cannot 'abandon' your time share to get out of the contract and it ends up costing you more than a hotel room that you have to get every year regardless of whether you use it or not.

We tried the putting a persons hand in warm water when we were kids. It worked on some people others, no. The song Butters is dancing to is called The Safety Dance by Men without Hats, and the dance he's doing is from Charlie Browns 1st Christmas by an unknown character [edited]. The old guy has been in a few episodes, the one you're thinking of is the one where the kids throw Butters off the building and Butters' dad wants to go to the cemetary and dig him up. The montage song has been in a few episodes (Cartman's incredible gift where he thinks he has mental powers after jumping off his house thinkiing he could fly) and Team America World Police. The thing is neither Stan, Kyle or Kenny actively tried to hang out with Butters that much. For them he is always kinda "there". They don't hate him but never were particularly friendly as well. The only one of the gang who regulary spends time with Butters is Cartman. Yes, he bullies and manipulates Batters almost constantly, but he does spend time with him. The sad thing is Cartman is the closest thing Butters have to the best friend aside from General Disarray (forgot his actual name).
@blaketindle470310 ай бұрын
I remember on the dvd commentary Matt and Trey talked about what a scam timeshares are. Like it costs the same money or less to just GO to that vacation spot for a week or whatever. Dude you nailed it when you said “It just sounds like an overpriced hotel to me.” That’s exactly what it is lol.
@SnowyWolborg10 ай бұрын
And that's not even taking into account how you have to keep putting in money to a timeshare, even if you don't visit that particular year. It's literally paying for something that you _might_ use if you have enough time to go on vacation.

One of my friend’s parents had a two week timeshare in a villa in Greece back in the 80s and 90s. Yes, there was an annual fee for the upkeep, but it was a lot less than what two weeks in a hotel would have cost. They only shared with about 8 other couples because some of the couples bought two and three months worth of the villa. Though timeshares were really only worth it if you used the property every year for your time.

it depends on how you look at timeshares, my family (currently my older sister) has owned a timeshare for the better part of 40 years on Sanibel Island in Florida, its still being repaired from the hurricane damage so they haven't gotten to go last year or this year but generally speaking it's a 2 bedroom 2 level top floor condo on the beach that can sleep 6 comfortably (with the pull out couch) and we've crammed far more into with a full kitchen for a week for like $1,200ish (last I remember) and you get full use of the pool and hot tub and every so often they do mini-remodels like updating furniture, replacing floors, toilets and repainting, so over all to have a guaranteed vacation spot every year its not bad.

She didn't work as a salesperson, thankfully, but things would happen like the vault full of money being broken into and of course nobody "solved" who did it since it was definitely one of those dudes stealing it for gambling lol. All of that aside, timeshares are a horrendous investment when so many others are available if one has money to look for an actual return.

Timeshares become a nightmare of overselling (and the actual deed is still owned by the scammers selling them). The only way to reasonably do that is to outright buy something with a group of friends and split it at most 4 ways. Having a seasonal property in a place where it's enjoyable year round is neat.

So many of your questions are references to old 80's movies. I couldn't even name them all Breakin' (1984), Better off Dead (1985), Pet Semetary (1989), .. Total Recall .All the tropes, the montage, the premise, hilarious! My parent's friends had a time share and so did one of my aunts. Everyone I know that has been involved with a time-share has regretted it, mainly because even if you don't use them you still have to pay the fee for the share and the terms to get out of contract is extremely convoluted. People fall hard into debt over time-shares. Also, because of the way the system works usually the local government enforces the contracts because they get a big chunk of revenue and taxes, and it ensures tourism if you have to use your time share each year. The worse part is that to get out of your contract the final step is to get someone else to buy your share. Once they sell you a share, it ensures someone is always paying. Many states and countries have outlawed them.
