As a graphic designer I’ve always hated when people class animated movies as kids films. Sure the promotion for films like this are aimed towards children as they get the whole family involved, but every animated film I’ve ever watched has always been catered for all ages. There are SO many 2000-2010 animated films they need to watch and I’m glad this is one of them!

At 10:44 - 2319 stands for “white sock” because W and S are the 23rd and 19th letters of the alphabet! 😆 Another fun fact: The people making the movie couldn’t get the child actor playing Boo to stay still enough to properly record her lines, so they decided to just follow her around and record anything and everything she says/sings while she played around in the studio! A lot of her dialogue in the movie is what they succeeded in recording of her while she was playing! 😊 Thanks for always reacting to these great animated movies!! It’s be amazing if you guys could react to 1998’s Mulan, 1992’s Aladdin, or 1997’s Hercules!! Those are my personal favorites in regard to the lessons, character arcs/growth, and iconic music! Interesting story concept of having fear from kids to power their 'world' but liked as story progressed they find out laughter is better, as the saying goes "laughter is th4 best medicine" & all your laughter reactions are just that! ^_^ nice seeing character development between Boo, Sulley & Wazowski , very heartwarming ending to the movie.

Mike on DVD box covers and other places had his face covered as a continuous running gag. The DVD cases had stickers that were directly over him, you can look it up lol For Boo, they follow one of the artists daughters around with a microphone and cut her lines together using the random things/noises she say whilst playing.

I remember how much I looked forward to this movie. The power of Pixar is the ability to tell a believable story through the delight that is animation. Pure adult escapism

There is a actual sequel to this. Its a show called Monsters at Work. Season 1 takes place directly after Waternoose's arrest. Mike & Sully are around but they arent main characters, while it focuses on new characters. Season 2 is the direct sequel taking place after the end of the movie. Season 2 brings back characters from the prequel Monsters University. The show expands on the change from scare power to laugh power. They actually manage to bring back the majority of the cast back, the one person who i can remember they replaced is Jennifer Tilly for Season 2. Honestly while Season 1 is a tough watch, i think Season 2 is much better and better expanding the whole change from scare to laugh, while exploring what the Monster world thinks about the change.

I would wear this movie out when I was little and it's still one of my favorites even as an adult probably because of all the memories...

You should definitely check out Monsters University. Monsters at Work is also fun! It’s a show that takes place right at the end of this movie as they experience the chaos of switching to laugh power and a monster who just got here for a new scaring job.

Im usually not a big fan of kid characters in films because i find them annoying or just getting in the way of the plot,but Boo is one of my top favorite kid characters in films up there with Akiko from Godzilla Minus One/Newt from Aliens/Alex from The Mummy Returns. Just her giggles and the way says "KITTY!!" are so adorable

To Oak, I'd like to mention another perspective on "using screams" and to a parent, this might come off, exactly the way Oak percieved it, but imagine being 5, 6, 7, maybe seeing Boo being unafraid, or Sully behaving kindly, might help them realize that the "monsters" they are afraid of aren't trying to hurt them, so in this story, not everything scary is bad, and not everyone who is friendly is good, I think stories like this that explore fear safely are an awesome change from, ugly equals villain and pretty equals hero, the morals of the story work regardless of your age, and they grow with you, such talented loving people creating beautiful art for all of us❤

Most of my kids childhoods, we weren't able to afford movie theater trips often BUT we bought everything we could on v.h.s, one of the reasons we like Pixar and DreamWorks movies, are, for one, great original stories that are entertaining regardless of a person's age, and also, because they don't talk down to children, they don't dumb down complicated or scarey subject matter, they trust kids to get it. It may seem over mature at times, but honestly the younger parents are when they can become comfortable with those tough topics, the easier discussing them with your kids becomes 😊 Aside from having beautiful animation, modern family movies are great because the depths of the story becomes more clear as you age and rewatch them, thank goodness for the storytellers ❤

They were told that there was a 7ft monster covered in fur and they said "Great, hopefully it's a minor character." Then they found out it was the main character!
