There's a lot of great characters but Butters is my favorite. I think he's unintentionally the most fully fleshed out character on the show. His name is Leopold Scotch but his nickname is Butters. He always strives to be a good person even though his parents are terrible and his friends are mean to him. Unlike how Cartman is truly evil, Butters is reluctantly the villain simply because his friends ostracize him. He created the alter ego, Professor Chaos, directly as a result of his bad treatment from his friends at school. He's completely isolated but because of that he has great introspective growth and he often steals the show from the other boys by out debating them. He has emerged as a leader in his own right and often accomplishes more by himself than the four main boys accomplish together. He has somehow been a legal pimp and still simultaneously been the most innocent person on the show.

There's a video that showcases how episodes centered around Cartman and Butters do so well. And a good example is how Cartman is evil and wears red, while Butters is good and wears baby blue

Butters is one of my favorites on South Park. He is sweet and somewhat innocent, however he does have a dark side. The episodes with Butters I like the most is World of warcraft, the one with Cartman being a robot, The one when Butters goes to Hawaii. To name a few.
