when I played on PC, I found the movement to kinda suck, like the roll/dodge mechanic was so delayed The combat, therefore, feels so clunky, and I found a really really long ambush to be so boring. It took me 10 minutes to get past countless waves of pretty easy enemies The game is funny, has a very interesting concept, but the gameplay itself is just mid imo

The Kyle boss froze on me Twice, reloading to FOREVER ago, the game went over it's 2 hour mark for a refund but I explained the glitchy boring game taht was a waste of money is why I went over my 2 hours. I'm a SUPER bias South Park fan, I remember in 4th grade I wore a Mr Hankey shirt to school and some kid told the teacher it was poops and I had to turn it inside out. I'm now in my 30s. Massive gamer since Regular Nintendo and early PC games. I can't bring myself to play this shit, and not Mr Hankey shit, just shit.

I was so excited for this game until i realized this was just south parks try at a love service game. Very little story. The thing about south park games that are different from every other game, i dont actually play south park games for the gameplay, these i play for the story, for the laughs.

Personally I preferred the 2D look as it was supposed to be based on the TV show. also the free roam across the town was nice but you can't do that here as the whole thing is played basically in Cartman's backyard and various other set pieces.

I think that the major hate for snow day is mostly just that... Well, it completely failing to fill the shoes of the games that came before it. Not even just in an "eh it has no storyline" thing, but just as a whole experience. It's a vaguely live-service pseudo-roguelike that feels like it smushed together a bunch of basic common trends without really thinking about it. Love or hate Turn Based Combat but both of the games before it made good use of their respective combat systems to create fun fights, and yes the story, comedy, and even in some cases serious dramatic stakes were done beautifully in the last two. Snow Day, even if it's not actually a 3/10 bad looks like it's a massive step backwards for the franchise, or like it was made out of obligation.

It is fun in it's own way, It is also kind of short witch is reflected in the price. One thing that I had heard that makes this interesting is that the idea behind the game is to have a game where they can add to it like they do the show where they can make things quickly and add to it in a timely manor. They have not started any of this, so this will be to be seen as I can not see this not being paid DLC, though if it is all priced right, this could be something that gets better with time.

I think the launch is mediocre at best, and yes, it looks like a mobile game turned into a console game, and I think the content is sparse, but if they add to it and update it over time, it’s going to be a good game.

Pretty obvious that there are plenty that 'pay' for a review. Look to the last few AAA games in the past 2 years

The problem with this game is it follows SOT and FBW and is haunted by the old 3D N64 game. I don't know what game they should have made, but it shouldn't have been this.

i haven't played this yet and will definitely make a review as a follow up to my IGN response, but i do wanna say that i'm tired of IGN and regardless of whether the game is good or bad.. 3/10 is unreasonably low and pushing out an article like that 1 day before the game's release is lowkey annoying..

I quit watching Celebrity Death match for South Park when it released, watched Bigger, Longer and Uncut with my dead in theaters and have remained a loyal fan til this day..... but this game was the 1st game I refunded on Steam. I had to research how to do it. Highly disappointed, I got to the Kyle boss fight and it froze on me, sending me back to FOREVER ago TWICE. The game play loop and boring mechanics I couldn't convince myself to continue even as a bias fan. I honestly enjoyed South Park 64 way more at the time of it's release.

In europe, it only costs 29€, and still got bad reviews. But for this price, it is just good. After all, it was advertised exactly for what it is. But people still compare it to a triple A game for 69.99-74.99€ and say its bad, just cause they personal dont like the genre and that's just a subjective and unfair rating. Cause again, it only costs 29€ and was clearly advertised for what it is.

I'm always a bit amused when fans go into It's Not As Bad As They Say mode, as they almost never say that it's, you know, good. As Sick Boy pointed out in Trainspotting, Not Bad is Not Good. Middling reviews are a bigger turn-off than a bad one... where there's some hope it might be so bad it's good rather than completely forgettable.

IMO, this game is good. Not groundbreaking or anything, but good and enjoyable. I think a lot of people are disappointed because they wanted something along the lines of SOT or TFBW and that is reflecting in their reviews. That's just not what this game was though. Matt and Trey have a very different preference in regards to games. Trey much prefers the RPG boardgame style of games we got with SOT and TFBW, while Matt prefers a bit more of what we got with Snow Day. You can't compare this game to the other two RPG games, because it's fundamentally too different. For what it is though, it's good. Not great, but not bad. Could've been a lot better though and I really hope they do continue this format and refine it over time.

This games not really my style, i dont really care for south park but i enjoyed the games. I do kinda feel bad for the devs though... From what I heard this was the game the other dev really wanted after the first dev got the two games he wanted. Personally i think the bigger problem is that these devs have created a fanbase of players who enjoy turn based rpg with two really great games that now the players want and expect that. I dont think the problem is that the games bad it seems its more just to dramatic of a change for the fanbase they created

I just finished fractured but whole, and i can imagine if that was the game of my childhood how i might be upset at them changing it. But to each their own

It wouldn;'t be so bad if it hasn;t followed Stick of Truth and Fractured But Whole. Those were pretty much perfection in capturing South Park. You really felt like you were in an episode. A huge open world to explore, engaging story lines that kept you playing at 3am just to see what came next, you could customise your character a lot by choosing a class, weapons, weapon and armour addons, spells, consumables, abilities, and those of your NPC helper. The fights were very varied too. Most of all, the humour was there. Sometimes I had to pause the game I was laughing so hard (like Defeating the Priests), and there were tons of easter eggs and side quests. Snow Day, well, it's storyline is very threadbare, your own character gets a ranged attack and melee, which can e varied slightly by choosing one of three weapons for each. And you get six abilities, of which you can pick two. And you can;t customise them, or your helper bots either: there's no "hmm, I'll take Butters as a healer over Cartman as a ranged dps this time". The fights themselves are incredibly repetative, basically hack and slash your way through the same enemies...over and over. Most of all, the humour just isn;t there. All the characters are very subdued.

I really like your honest review. I think that IGN was too harsh on this game to give it the same score as Skull Island: Rise of Kong, the game that can be beaten in 2 hours due to how broken it is. It is just another mindless/multitask game to play with your friends for a few hours just like Dead Island 2, but with a South Park theme, better writing, and a lower price tag.
