I found Stick of Truth to be more of an engrossing interactive film then a console game. Its relative lack of challenging gameplay facilitated the ease of which I was able to enjoy the story, world and atmosphere. The opposite can be said of Fractured But Whole which I also liked but was tougher to get through.

I can see that for stick of truth and especially that ending when the main character finally talks and tell them to screw off 😂.

I'm a turn based rpg fan who loves the classics. I like SoT but have heard bad things. Is it good?
@llamasarus13 жыл бұрын
@@GG256_ It's great! But I play it more as a South Park fan than as a turn based RPG fan, which I'm not so I can't answer you on whether or not you'd be fulfilled in that area because I don't have much to compare it to. Among classic RPGs the creator said he was influenced by Ultima and Earthbound among others. I've heard criticisms that the turn based aspect of the game is too easy and repetitious. But it definitely has the humor and absurdity to make up for it. Perhaps I didn't mind it because I'd rather feel like I'm dominating in the story then being kicked to the curb. I didn't mind the turn based parts but I like it more for the exploration/collectathon aspects. But the focal point for me was the world and story. I'd say give it try! Worst case scenario you'll find it to be a flawed game with redeemable aspects and a story to make you laugh. Best case scenario you'd be playing it every year and a half like me!

South Park was a piece of media I never had the luxury or chance of watching, coming from a country that is pretty conservative and is definitely incapable of capturing the beautiful crassness and the blunt of South Park's jokes, the only time I had come across South Park was the Playstation's South Park Rally, a weird racing game. So when I played The Stick of Truth, as an RPG it is very well made, story driven, the gameplay is very traditional (like the first 6 Final Fantasies) and effectively had me in immersed into the world that is South Park: hilarious, winceworthy, and overall amazing. I don't get all the references, like _at all_ , but it definitely led me to discover that South Park is, just like how I first played Final Fantasy VII. I know nothing of the sort, but led me to love the world if the game, becoming a fan and exploring the world from that game. So thats my perspective on what's it like, playing thru TSoT as a person who never knew what South Park is as a whole.

I played as the Jew-class my first time and with a level 5 circumscythe that would slice half their armor, add fuckloads of bleed and dmg in itself, i would basically just stockpile coffee for double turns and circumscythe, then regular melee. When it came to any group kills having the halberd with 35% perfect dmg + the 3 bleed would be insanely good but because Kyle's arrow squad is so ridiculously overpowered it wasn't even a thing. The guy would do 14k damage if you manage the QTE, and even on a fuck up you still do around 6-8k AoE damage. Kyle himself was so broken on AoE that you could just make your own character a single target powerhouse and he would kill the groups on turn one by himself. Still loved the game though.

I thought both games we're really good in how the programming was incredibly self aware. For example in how you get called Tom Brady if you try to use passwords you shouldn't know at that point in the story in Fractured But Whole. But apparently that game was buggy. It crashed and deleted all savefiles halfway through for one of my friends. Generally i got the distinct impression that "Woah man! They thought of everything."

I always wanted to watch South Park but my mom never allowed it, but about 4 years ago my dad got me this for Christmas, and I was completely surprised. I started playing it and I was overwhelmed by all the profanity! I didn’t have a headset so the sound came out of the tv and I always turned it down whenever a lot of curses or inn appropriate scenes occurred (like your parents having sex) I was also always at the ready to pause the game in case anyone walked in. The game was so much fun for a young 12 to 13 year old and I started watching South Park after playing the game. Seeing as my dad bought me the game when I was 4 years younger than I am now I figure he’ll be alright with the sequel, but asking my dad “Hey can I get the new game South Park the Fractured But Whole” might be pushing it.

I didn't play but I watched a playthrough of this game, since I didn't own any console or pc that can play video game at the time. The story hooked me so much that I decided to watch all seasons of South Park, so I guess it doesn't take away the enjoyment if you play without knowing the reference before. It's like watching a really long episode of South Park. But then again, I didn't play the game, so I don't really know. I however played TFBW, while already know all the reference, which adds to the enjoyment of the game. I don't think the gaming mechanic is the best, despite a lot of improvement from SoT, the narrative is incredible and I enjoy it a lot.

As someone who played the game without watching the show, yeah it was still a lot of fun. They don't only make jokes from South Park, but the poking fun at stuff that doesn't involve the show itself (abortion clinic, nazi zombies, pretty much anything dnd related and much more) is more than enough. Honestly, I don't know if watching the show would help, I fear that if they actually made SO many only south park related jokes it'd be a Bit too much for me.

Pretty good video but “make every enemy equally difficult no matter what level you’re at” is a horrible solution, rpgs should not be the same difficulty everywhere. I like the leveling system and find it really fun to become an insane god but I get not liking it either way that is a horrible way to design a game.
