Nice one boys! I claim responsibility for the Anna Ford photo. Last thing we, (Antipop Entertainmentarama Mafia), did after we spent the day in the Wavismobile invading recording company and music mag offices wearing false noses and hiding fig rolls under things so they'd find them 6 months later, while promoting 'Anna Ford's Bum' album, was to go to ITN house and wait outside until News at Ten had finished so we could buttonhole her. Everybody wanted to give up and go back to my place but I insisted we should go the extra mile, so we did. Anna came tripping down the steps and I stopped her and asked for the photo, which she very graciously allowed, not spotting the phallic neb hidden behind Wavis's back. Next day we went down Fleet Street trying to get a newspaper to publish it. Nobody was interested. The News of the World reporter asked if Wavis 'wanted to fuck her', if he admitted that then they would have published it. Of course Wavis didn't admit to that . The good old Sunday People published though. Front page spread!! I've still got my copy. I'm overjoyed that the 'News of the Screws' went down the pan! Signed: Arthur 2 Strokes brother.

It's still disappointing that Wavis is often wrongly identified as having anything to do with punk. He never was one himself, he was simply a one-off thing - a Wavis O'Shave - defying all known categorisation. People couldn't place him anywhere, and so wrongly bunged him in with either the punk rock or New Wave scene. Take a listen, his music was never punk nor New Wave back then anymore than it is now - check out his more recent 'Sunspots on the Moon' for example - and he could be quite musical when he felt like it.
