this was awesome takes me right back to the 70s going to British legion club on a Saturday night with my grandmother and grandad - those where the days. i can vividly recall a conversation about the price of a pint of beer and my grandmother being adamant that no one would EVER pay a pound for a pint of beer - if only these days ... thanks for the memories

Absolutely Great, Used to roadie/Sound man for several groups in the 60's - 70's before I immigrated to Oz in 1980. The mention of the Shah Jan brought back great memories, 3-- in morning eating with guys from Beckett, Brass Alley, Charity James Etc. Etc.

I used to go to the Middle Club, the Top club, Brighams and the British legion. Very happy days with my dad. He played harmonica in all of the clubs. Its a tradition we should all try to continue.

Ned Kelly! 🙌🏼 Anyone know if Ned is still around? He must be in his early 80s nowadays.

Remember going to the Whiteleas working mens club with my father back in the late 70's. I'll have to get back to see what's happening to Shields before I get too old to travel.

Nice to see a few local faces. Near the end is Pat, her belated husband Lew ran the Bamburgh pub for many years. My Uncle was offered it but he bought The Rose and Crown.

Scares me to death now I'm almost 60, moved away to the South at 16 and London for 26 years before returning in 2015 and was so shocked how much Shields had changed. Live here now and, like many towns neglected by subsequent Tory bastards, has a few issues but I am home and will be here till the lights grow dim. Cheers Ali

Cant you get around the non smoking by listing the main areas in a club as a smoking area.
