Also big thanks to Rick McCain for the invite.We had something cooking on the pit the whole time we were there. The dove hunting was excellent with quick limits. Mike Dartez was probably top gun , making lots of great shots. We cleaned enough doves to cook while listening to the LSU game (Geaux Tigers).Mike did most of the cooking on this trip and man did he do a good job. The doves were fall off the bone tender. I’ve never seen anyone cook the whole dove. We always breasted them, wrapped them in bacon, marinated them and grilled them. But the whole bird looks delicious!!

Haha I was in south Texas last weekend as well hunting over a 500 acre sunflower feild. We shot limits all 4 days I was down. It took less than 30 min to get your 15 birds everyday. Good mix of morning and whitewing as well. Went in central texas a few weeks ago got 8 white wing 7 morning and 6 ring necks or Asian dove. Been stuffing peppers. Frying breast. Last night had dove in mushroom gravey. Ready for quail season to open up.

When we clean Dove...we pop off the head...stick your thumb down into the cavity, and turn the bird inside out and peel off the Dove breast...No plucking feathers...Easy. The carcasses we would boil down and give to the dogs🐕🐕 for retrieving the birds for us. The only big piece of meat to speak of on a Dove is the breast...however, our Dove aren't as big as those Texas birds.. They are delicious with KFred...on the charcoal grill. Nice shootin fellas 😋🤣💯✌👍
