Big thanks. I don't get off this Island "Isle of Wight" very often and when I will be traveling far I get a bit nervous. Seeing this made me remember the mainland stations better and there are no butterfly's in my tummy now. THANKS . . . :-D

Awesome! This was my first trip on this route and I did it without issue. If I can do it, anybody can! I did pass your island on the Queen Mary 2 two years ago and was fascinated by it. I will want to know more about England's largest island

Been using Southampton Central (used to be just Southampton) for over 40 years, and it really hasn't changed much. The North entrance has been spruced up, but that's about it. You are right in saying that it is more of a through station, and an interchange. Could do with a bit of an upgrade. Personally, I don't like it.

Thanks for comments. Don't parts of it bring you back to 1950's England? God for me parts of it like the steps and the bridge over the traps brought me back 60 years!

how do you go through the gates with an e-ticket

I suspect they scan them. I wouldn't know - I had to talk to the turnstile woman to let me in without a ticket

@@swissclimber1 Next time you can just buy what's called a platform ticket for 10 pence.

You hold everyone else up by faffying around trying to find it on your phone,when all the time a paper ticket would have been soo much faster.

it's a pretty sad station for a city the size of Southampton. Down the line Bournemouth is a much nicer station

Southampton station is not an impressive building like stations in London. This maritime city is where the great liners sail from.

Yes indeed. What was interesting for me is the track side of the station. I felt like I was in the 30's-60's England.....

True. I was expecting something a bit more impressive. It tends to be more of a through station than an origin/destination station
