The engine noise is quite unique and I have fond memories of travelling between Guernsey & Jersey in the 90's.

Excellent video! wow, that sound. Just like if I was near the runway. The kind of trip the Trislander and the Islander were designed for, like island hopping in the caribbean. Thanks!!

I live in Southampton and see these all the time they sound like an angry bee and the three-cylinder racket gets on your nerves. Especially when they fight against a head on gust of wind all the hear is an Aygo with no exhaust manifold going RRRRRRRRRRRRR

One of the most unique looking birds around to be sure. Great shots over the open water.

Years ago, back in the late 70's I used to take Islanders around northern California. These Tri Islanders didn't seem to exhibit the STOL performance that I remember? These were being flown more like a conventional aircraft.

Very unique, I don't know that I have ever seen one here in the states, I like it.

What a super little movie. Love this aircraft. When I worked at Aberdeen airport in the 80's, I managed to get a flight with Avwest, callsign "Camelot" mail flight. Loved it! Going to Jersey at Christmas, do they still have them in the Channel Islands?
@nook91408 жыл бұрын
They're being retired by Aurigny at christmas, and Blue Islands no longer operate them

a little late for this, but they stopped flying them a year or two ago

Great vid. I wonder why three engines? Does it help on certain regions or conditions?

bonus lift from the engine 2 flowing faster air over the horizontal stab.
@RichardFStripeRendezvous7 жыл бұрын
horizontal stabilizers psuh down rather than create lift to balance the aircraft, so, no, not bonus lift. It does however make the control surfaces on the empennage more effective

Not many tri's were built, I can think of the Tri-Star, DC-10, even DC-3's with three enigines and of course the trislander!

i recon Aurigny should use their Jet aircraft on more than just one route which is Guernsey or Jersey to London Gatwick and thats it . Why they should expands the jet routes is because just doing one route won't be enough they need to order two more jets and do Manchester + Glasgow + Frankfurt and so on .
