Beatings is common in parts of China for discipline although idk the context of the video u watched. I was beat as a child when I did something bad. It's not a great way of teaching your kids as we grow up to respect you out of fear and not actual love and respect. In fact you can get hit with a ruler on your palm in some school's in China. It is part of our culture but we are slowly changing and it is becoming less common. However population of china is pretty big so unoo it prob take a while

@Kevin. Not every parent beats their children to teach them discipline but they do it to take out their own frustrations. Studies have shown beating kids doesn't lead to great grades but high suicide rates. Parents can't beat strangers because it can lead to prison, but their kids will tolerate the abuse. Culture is a weak argument for abuse. One child policy in China led to female feticide. And abusers will say that's also part of our culture. Only an abuser would say that's ok.

Alex Ander It doesn’t. Saying he doesn’t deserve the wife puts the man lower than the woman. “Deservingness” is added on to something of value, which the woman is not. Since deservingness is tagged on to a valuable object, saying the man doesn’t deserve the woman means that the woman has value and the man doesn’t deserve value. However, the woman does not have value, and the man deserves a valuable woman.
