I have a big German Shepard. A quick pop like that doesn’t phase her in the slightest. It’s like she barely feels it. I pop 3 or 4 times without her even noticing until i have to pull her away. Then she realizes what I’m asking. The pop of the leash does absolutely nothing.

change training up and use a head harness instead still use the pop but have it turn their head around a but instead

@@lichatheworkingdog I tried that but she can’t take two steps forward with the head harness. She just keeps doing somersaults trying to get it off.

@@StayAtHomeMeme I feel you - I have a working line shepherd and he’s an actual angel at home. He didn’t have the greatest start to life. I was blessed with him at 4 months old and I knew he had issues. He’s very reactive on lead and he’s started to herd other dogs off lead. We have worked so so hard to get to where we are at. However at this time I believe a professional is what he needs. I’ve found the best dog trainer in London for reactive breeds and fingers crossed they can help me out! 🤞💯

You have to catch the moment to pop the lead right before their arousal gets that high. It’s too hard when they’re already fevering for that reactive moment to happen. Watch your dog’s behavior and notice the body language before an outburst happens. Now trigger it again but the very moment you see notice then noticing their trigger then you pop the lead or do whatever form of redirection you’re trying. If you can’t snap them out of it still try farther away. Close the distance little by little when they get better. You can use leash pops, their favorite reward, a focus word. Your dog decides what rewards are high value enough to work.

Start with more distance from the other dog and one that's just ignoring. If you're getting more reaction than this then you're to close for now.

How was this even a reactive dog? I literally do this daily with my dog on our daily walks and until he pulls and fights until the other dog is out of sight

We are using an dingo collar (slip collar) halti double clip lead and a harness with the lead attached to the front clip

If you ever rode a horse before well You control the leash just like you do the Reigns , guide them in direction you want them to go-

I'd like to see him work with a really reactive dog. There's a really reactive dog near me who worries me. My dog has become reactive or unpredictable after a few bad experiences from shit dog trainers and idiots letting their dog race over to us. My dog has been attached twice now because of irresponsible dog owners.

How about good training WITHOUT TREATS which is how I have trained about 30dogs so far. Verbal cues, with praise for good behaviour & sharp commands turning on the lead or stepping up to stop bad behaviour.
