When my Akita was a puppy, I ran into so many people who didn't know what kind of dog it was. One gaggle of girls was so giddy about wanting a dog just like him,(😅) and asked "how big will he be fully grown? 40/50 pounds?" I laughed and let her know his dad is 130lbs. 😂

Wouldn't a correction be more efficient? Does simply walking into your dog fix the behavior? Will the dog learn not to react to other dogs?
@whiskyeet14 сағат бұрын
@@anabozic8748 It is a correction of sorts. It's dominant behaviour which the dog understands, but without doing this, actually correcting the dog is just confusing and wrong, as it doesn't know what is right.

Zippy showing her tummy so quicky made my heart soar! Having that level of trust so quickly shows what a difference a loving home can make. I’m watching these videos as I’m currently in the process of adopting a rescue dog, and we’ve been told she’s nervous around new people so I’m trying to be as informed as possible! Is the internet dumb for blaming the people giving that dog a home for the cropped ears? Yes. Are you dumb for getting mad at people getting mad at cropped ears? Yea
@christinemackenzie54542 күн бұрын
Well said!!!!!
@judyives18322 күн бұрын
People are trying to discourage the practice of ear cropping. (However misguided their method!). Of course It’s not the dogs fault that his breeder did that to him. But we are facing so many health issues in dogs now because of breeding dogs for “looks”. It’s hard to see dogs that can’t breathe, can’t walk, whose brain no longer fits into their “heart shaped” heads, or has cancer or epilepsy by age two! As owners, trainers, etc it breaks our hearts and to see even more unneeded cosmetic alterations for that “look”, is very frustrating. BUT as a person who has paid out thousands of dollars for knee replacement surgeries on a four year old lab, I’d much rather see a cropped ear than bad knees!!! If breeders MUST go for extreme looks, (and I wish it were not profitable for them) I’d rather it be something cosmetic rather than a genetic predisposition to blindness, heart problems, joint issues, or cancer. So many of our breeds are now unethical to own because of the extreme inbreeding.
