Here is an early example of the railfan video from Morry Farcus and JMJ Productions. Released in 1980, this video begins with Southern Railway's leased Royal Hudson 4-6-4 #2839.
After chasing the Royal Hudson, the show moves to museums in Roanoke and Baltimore where numerous locomotives that would steam again are seen on display. These include Norfolk & Western 4-8-4 #611 and 2-6-6-4 #1218, Chesapeake & Ohio 4-8-4 #614 (numbered 611 at the time), and Chesapeake & Ohio 2-6-6-2 #1309.
The last segment of the program goes to the Northeast Corridor, where former Pennsylvania Railroad GG1 electrics are seen in action.
It's a priceless look back at a slice of railroading at the dawn of the eighties.
