I was there to see her come in on June 26th! It was overcast when she arrived at Radford in the morning, but it got clearer as the day went on. Great video! Thanks for publishing!

anyone know what kind of whistle that is on 4501??? It's also a shame her mainline runs in the 21st century didn't last long but at least she continues to run on tvrm pulling trains

EvanF1293 Why did NS decide to stop hosting excursions? Was it partly because Wick left or was it because NS no longer wanted the liability of excursions? Near me we have the Reading and Northern Railroad which has the 425 and soon to be revived ex-Reading T-1 4-8-4 #2102. NS sold off the five excursion coaches that were used in the new program. They kept the generator car.

To answer your question Evan, the 4501's whistle is a Southern 3 chime.

This is the first time I've seen a steam engine with a diesel helper that make a really good match. It's almost like the southern paint scheme never changed over the years.

+David Sanchez The 3170 was the first SD-40 bought by the Southern. In recent years since the N&W SRR merger it has been painted NS Black, but was overhauled and repainted in her SRR scheme this last year to be added to the heritage fleet.

Now, revive steam on the NS mainline! Like I always say, bring back 1401!

Yeah, let’s hope so. Wick Moorman was a life savior for bringing the original Steam Program by how much we care for our heritage to the communities along the “Route of The Thoroughbred”.

What if 1551 runs on Norfolk Southern to meet up with 630 and 4501 for a round series of tripleheader excursions on Norfolk Southern rails? I think it'll be awesome to see that, but it takes time!
