Far out I’ve always loved the boats, but honestly hot take, they should really make the race more interesting by going back a bit more old school even tho it was more dangerous, but you can’t lie and say the racing was so much better when skiers where aloud to leave the wake and when helicopters use to get real low to the water, like all that made the 80 the best, it’s still great now but a lot of it seems to safe to the point it’s a bit boring, and also they should really make more classes for boats, or even have another type of superclass but with the older style fiberglass hulls instead of these new $100.000 f1 boat hills where, YES it does look really cool, but these boats don’t bounce in the water their too big to the point where they look slow, similar to the same problem that formula 1 is dealing with sorta, Also R.I.P to the skier who passed Today on Raceday it’s always a tragic when a life is lost at southern 80, but doesn’t mean their should be more restrictions ruining the fun for everyone else, it’s just a risk of getting behind a boat at 160km+ and nothing you can do will make it safer it’s just the sport and how it is, I like to hope at least that the skier who passed, passed doing something he loved

Yeah no doubt there’s always risks involved with the sport, I also do see what you mean by despite the fact the bigger boats are faster they look slower, but I think people hold back from buying the older boats whether or not they can still compete on a river because they just can’t compete in circuit racing

@SkiRacingOz in the 80s we raced in Clearlake California a much different time and equipment 19 to 21 ft Hallett or schiada boats

Just wondering could one person skiing go any faster or can the boat go any faster, because they were absolutely flying and seemed like they were maxed out

I think l you’ll find you could get one skier down the course faster because you can get on the throttle quicker, carry a little more corner speed but for a lot of the way the boat is full berries because at this course there are only short straights before a lot of tight corners
