SOUTHERN BLUFF

Fort Bragg, California - Pudding Creek South on the Bluffs.
On a cool, overcast morning, the cliffs south of Pudding Creek lay shrouded in a misty calm, a gentle veil cast by the mingling of sun and cloud. The air was fresh and crisp, filled with the saltiness of the sea and the whisper of the waves as they lapped at the shore below. This place, with its untouched beauty and serene isolation, had always been a sanctuary to those who knew it well.
A lone raven a silent sentinel surveying the expanse of water and rock. The raven's keen eyes took in the view that so many sought, yet few truly appreciated. It was a vista of raw, unspoken beauty, where the land met the sea in a timeless dance.
I walked along the cliff's edge, my footsteps light on the sandy path. Here, the temperatures were a perfect contrast to the inland heatwave. While those away from the coast sweltered in near 100-degree weather, here it was a cool, refreshing 60 degrees. The interplay of overcast sky and sporadic sunlight painted the ocean a deep, reflective grey, its surface shimmering like polished steel.
As I reached my favorite lookout point, I paused to take in the scene. The raven cocked its head, eyeing me with a curious glint. We shared a moment of mutual appreciation for this peaceful retreat. From our vantage, the stretch of coastline seemed to extend endlessly, an unbroken line of cliffs and coves that led to the bustling hub of Glass Beach.
I knew that beyond this point, the tranquil solitude would give way to the activity of treasure seekers. Glass Beach, renowned for its colorful sea glass treasures, would be teeming with people scouring the sands. But today, I decided not to venture further. The raven seemed to understand my choice, offering a soft croak as if in agreement.
Instead, I stopped, letting the peace of the bluffs wash over me. The raven remained close, perched on a nearby rock, both of us content to simply be present in this serene moment. The sun peeked through the clouds, casting a silvery light over the water, and the world felt wonderfully still.
In the distance, I could hear the faint sounds of laughter and chatter from Glass Beach, a reminder of the world beyond this tranquil haven. But for now, here on the bluffs south of Pudding Creek, it was just me, the raven, and the endless, calming expanse of the ocean.

I think they tried a fine for taking glass but who is going to make the arrest?? It's a shame, The glass is not as thick as it used to be.

@@geebee2576 We were told Albion has a glass beach that’s a lot less popular. I’m hoping to check it out when we go up in July.

@@christinamatzen4214 I'm not much of a beach glass guy but I have friends that say there are lots of coves worth checking. Of coarse they never give the location!!

@@geebee2576 Of course! They don’t want it spoiled by tourists! I don’t consider myself a tourist though, we just live in Sonoma County. The kids love searching the beaches for cool rocks and shells and what they call “floor loot” 😂
