I just made this cake not even 4 hours ago and it is stellar!! I absolutely love Monique’s cooking style and the fact that she uses real ingredients and keeps it simple! As a child, she had a powerhouse of influential women in her home and it lives on through her cooking! I found Monique in 2014 and recently purchased her cookbook! Monique girl, I made this cake a few weeks ago for the residents I cook for at my job. Let me tell you that this is THE ABSOLUTE BEST CAKE I have ever made. I scaled it to make enough for like 96 portions and it made a ton of batter. Like enough for like 3 and half hotel pans so it was plenty to serve for 2 meals(next time I'll scale it back a little bit). One of the staff members had a piece and told everyone else about it, to the point where they wanted me to make it for the Spring Fest that same week. They kept taking like 2-3 pieces at a time, also I had 2 other staff members ask me to make them one a piece. I of course told them it wasn't my recipe because I didn't want to take all of the credit. But this recipe is dangerous and should be locked away never to be released again( lol JK)

I like this video and I can't wait to try this recipe and compare it to my mother's. Funny story: my mother (rip) was born in Alabama. Every time I would say pecan - the way you say it - she would go crazy 😜. She would say "young lady! Pee-cans are for truckers; we don't eat them! The word is "peakon". I say all this to say that hearing the way you pronounce pecan brought some loving memories of my mother who died when I was 14. (I'm 37 now). So thanks for the recipe and the shaking of my memories.

I poked holes in a southern butter pecan cake added whipped butter cream icing (added a teaspoon southern pecan creamer to the icing). It made it so moist. The key is cutting a slice, heating the cake up for 30 seconds in the microwave, and topping it off with vanilla ice cream. THE BEST CAKE EVER!

I try out this recipe and this cake is the bomb it was sosososo 👍 good the only thing I cut back on is the powder sugar for the frosting I use half cup of powder sugar and it so so good, guy's this a much try the cake was so moisture and delicious 😋 I will definitely make this again, I just have a small slice remaining for my daughter
