I made this cake and it is phenomenal! My first time baking a cake so I was a little nervous but it turned out great. Super moist, soft and pillowy, and perfect lemon flavor- not too much and not too little! It tasted even better the next day 😍 10/10

@@basmarhanny2161 if you are asking what buttermilk is, it’s traditionally milk fermented by the increased lactic acid in the milk left over from churning butter. Now it’s made in factories and you can find it in the grocery store. Next to regular milk. It’s a little more sour than regular milk. The old folks used to call regular milk, ‘sweet milk’, to differentiate between the two.

Shortening is hydrogenated vegetable oil. Butter (well real butter) is usually just cream and salt. I think shortening makes things fluffier
