Southern California braces for more aftershocks after 7.1 magnitude earthquake

Southern California is awaiting more aftershocks after two powerful earthquakes rocked the area this week. The 7.1 magnitude quake, which hit just after 8 p.m. local time, was felt from Los Angeles all the way to Nevada and caused injuries, sparked fires and closed roadways. The quake was centered in the Mojave Desert near the town of Ridgecrest, which is still recovering from a 6.4 magnitude quake on the Fourth of July. Carter Evans reports.

African Child I felt something but it was a small shake. Many people didn’t feel anything and if those lamps weren’t swinging a bit I would have thought it was in my head. San Andreas fault cuts through San Jose. Like I’m not kidding there is this college I attend that is trying to demolish some buildings cause it’s literally sitting on top of the fault and any serious earthquakes those buildings could go under. It just all depends. A 2.0 earthquake or that magnitude can be missed by many and that’s what it felt like here.

Ridgecrest is not the epicenter of the quakes. The 7.1 on Friday evening was 10 miles north of Ridgecrest. Most of the numerous shocks are centered about 20 miles north of Ridgecrest in dry lakebed way out in the China Lake Naval Weapons Range. Very few people live there.

they go from 7 to a few 6's then down to 5's and then 4 's that's the pattern we had here in Christchurch NZ and slowly the ground settles with a whole raft of 4''3 and 2 thrown in all around the bigger ones, but beware those are big quakes and in time it effects the faultlines around about and some of those are pointing towards the San andreas Fault system so keep you wits about you and when a quake hits DONT RUN OUTSIDE, you are better to stop DROP under COVER and HOLD on to what is over you many where killed here by running outside right into stuff failing off the front of buildings AND THE BEST HELP TO EACH OTHER IS A GOOD HUG

I found this post on one of the other videos....please read...seems important: Xerexes 4 hours ago Around 2007 I was on a plane passing over area of Ridgecrest in central california and saw the biggest mushroom plume of dark smoke about a mile high coming out of an exploded fracking well. You know what’s funny is I was just in Ridgecrest exactly two weeks ago staying overnight at a hotel before headed towards Death Valley for a fun family trip. We went through Searles valley on Trona Rd which eventually leads to the main road going into Death Valley. I still have vivid memories of that place. To see it now after the quakes sends a little chill down your spine. It’s a very small town, but has enough to sustain residence.

As if being long overdue is not bad enough, Global warming amplifies Earthquakes size and frequency , heres how; When pollution changes the composition of the air making it a bigger blanket covering the Earth, it slows down how fast heat from the core can radiate off the surface of the Earth. Much like if you covered a hot car hood with a blanket, the cooling system has to work faster. In the Earth's case it melts more rock which carries the heat up to the surface and gives it off to the air. This makes more volcanoes, plate movement and Earthquakes. The atmosphere is like the insulation in the walls of your home, how thick it is affects how it is inside as well as makes the furnace hotter too. Fortunately the Earth has heat pump cooling system that uses water as it's planetary refrigerant. It can carry the heat on the surface to the upper atmosphere where the heat is dropped off and then the super cold water comes back down to the surface bring more cooling too boot.
