Because of her Grandmother's insistence the sales people were forced to work harder to find the perfect dress for this young bride to be. That's the sales people's job. To take the bride's first liked dress in this case and many others is to settle for less than she deserves and only encourages the sales people to be less than they can be in their area of specialty.

This is an example of why it's important for couples to have engagements that give them time to save up their own money. Grandma had way too much influence on the bride's choice of dress! And on top of it, she had no constructive remarks about style. I think that she wanted her covered up to her neck since every dress was sleeveless. This wasn't HER wedding, it's her granddaughter's. I bet if the grandfather was still alive, he would put the kabash on the constant negativity of the grandmother.

I am proudly 1) from a long line of southern family traditions and 2) a mother of a daughter and grandmother of a female (still too young for wedding worries). But I just cannot understand nor sympathize with these matriarchs who demand to commandeer their daughter's/granddaughter's style choices when it comes to their heart's desire for a dress. First, it's hers and her fiance's wedding, not your's. And secondly, as long as she's not embarrassing the family with a heinously skimpy or tacky pick, shut your mouth, open your purse, and be happy she wanted you included in the happy occasion.

My dad was a late baby, she had him in her 40s, and seeing that i was the youngest of my parents, my time with her was super limited .... yet God blessed me with an amazing capacity for memory and i remember so much of my time spent with her in my youngest years. She was the only person i can without a doubt say loved me completely unconditionally.... she passed when i was in 8th grade. I am 45 today and i still cry for her as if she died yesterday. Her husband, my grandfather died 2 months before my birth. Treasure these ppl in your life today before they become a memory in your past.
