Incredible james2609, we have nothing but the utmost respect for you. That is one tough place to railroad. If you ever get a chance check out our "Tehachapi: SP and Santa Fe" DVD or the epic 3 hour movie"Freight West". Big time action and 30 years of railroading. There is really good chance you might see yourself in the cab in one of our films.

Based on videos I see on YT, it looks like there's a lot more derailments up there in modern day. Did you guys have fewer derailments back in the day, or has it always been a treacherous stretch up there?
@jamesg2609Ай бұрын
Yes. Tehachapi has always been plagued with derailments. Countless causes broken knuckles, drawbars, lateral over vertical issues, thin flanges, broken wheels, broken rails etc.

Thanks Charles for the kind note. Yes railroading on Tehachapi was a challenge both uphill and downhill. I used to call these trains semi controlled runaways. Have enjoyed your work for years all films are top notch. Keep up the good work !

My grandfather and uncle worked for the SP. I was lucky enough to be able to ride in the cab a couple times on some local trains with my uncle back in the 80's. I miss those days.

Wow danielkeene, those are some special memories. I am sure there are many other stories you could tell when it came to the Southern Pacific. You Dad and Uncle worked for them during a great era!

The first 2 trains (2nd labeled as Warren) are in fact, on the Yuma Sub East of Ordway on Beaumont Hill. Still good stuff though
