Hi first time on your channel. I liked the Southern Pacific Engine pulling the passenger cars. I watch an old movie with Spencer Tracy and the opening seen was the Southern Pacific Passenger Train running through the mid west planes.After seeing it I'm thinking of purchase the engine and passenger set. Nick L Trains FYI, these videos are digitized from 16mm film that were taken in the 40’s and 50’s. If you buy one it shows in the credits who the original photographer’s are.

This is Volume 5 (SF Bay Area). Volume 1 has the cab forwards over the Sierra. Volume 2 is Oregon with footage of the Tillamook Line.

Why Southern Pacific didn't design Northerns streamliner to be Cab Forwards too? SP uses fuel oil as primary fuel for their steam locomotives.

Yes, all the footage was silent, and I scored the sound effects. Sound design is something I teach at DeAnza College. It takes me about an hour to do between one to two minutes of screen time.

@@Henriqueleal0609 I don’t really know whether or not the SP had that particular 3 chime as a default whistle for their steam locomotives. I mean I always knew that 2353 has one, but I doubt that these were the default whistles used at the time these scenes were filmed.

That wasn’t the Daylight. The locomotive pulling that train was an MT class 4-8-2 Mountain type locomotive. The Daylights were all GS class 4-8-4 Northern types.

I bet they were mixed traffic haulers. Not only did they haul freight, but they also hauled passenger trains throughout the system.
