As an SMU fan, I am BEYOND grateful that we didn’t have a 9 year losing streak, unlike Prairie View A&M. I thought 30 straight years of mediocrity sucked, but this. This is gotta be hell on earth for A&M fans. For all those fans sticking around, congrats on finally having a decent program, you deserve it.

The program during that losing streak actually wasn't a program. The athletics department was disbanded after a scandal. The alumni fought for reinstatement and what the school did was reinstate a football team only with no funding so all players were walk-ons. Prior to that the school did little to keep up with the public schools coming into the conference vs the private less funded schools leaving. When scholarships were finally reinstated the program turned around and won a conference championship and has been no pushover in the conference since.

@@storm14k You're correct. I was raised in PV, went to Waller HS, and recruited by Henry Frazier in '07. I could not commit to my "Football locker" being under the Baby dome and walking to a stadium smaller than my high school (at the time). He said they'll win a conference championship and they did!! The program and facilities has continue to change ever since...

I was in The Box drum line ! This is my crab year 1998 !! I will never forget this night ! All I could do was swing my drum at people because I couldn't get it off smh lol! I really hate that we had to fight but Su drum major hit one of our drill dancers in the head with his Mas and it was on at that moment ! Side note Su was a all male band at the time and we (THE MARCHING STORM ,) were male and female!!!! It was crazy ! People really got hurt!

I was there in my home town of beaumont its unfortunately that this happen SU Jukebox was all boys band at the time, some young ladies got injured hate this. But it was a learning tools for both bands Jukebox for life

@@rodeocontentmedia4327 You know the golden rule in band is don't let people break your rank. Well you can see PV lined up on the sidelines before SU finished their field show. Once SU finished coming off the field. They were walking through the ranks of PV because PV was lined up and in the way. PV was trying to stop them and they started fighting.

@@rodeocontentmedia4327 lol @ the why were they at the game. Back then the Storm would pack a stadium despite the football team...just look at the Labor Day and State Fair classics of that time. Actually when it was thought that the band would not be allowed to perform at the State Fair Classic after this apparently ticket sales plummeted. Combine that with SU bringing a huge crowd wherever they go and you have this packed stadium. I was there for this game as well and going to school at the University where this took place at the time.

Not true!!! Su drum major started the fight when he hit one of our pvu drill dancers in the head as he was marching off the field!!! I know this to be a fact because I was in the Box drum line at Pvu in 1998 - 2000

Jackson (SU dm) was the instigator and was the first to get hit after talking trash for not “allowing” them to march through PV’s ranks. I was in a collegiate band and one of the very first rules is to never allow anyone to break your rank (outside of directors or drum majors).
