Regardless of which band was the loudest, Southern played the best as far as versatility and precision, but much respect to Talladega College. I see a good future for them if the college continues to support their program. They have a lot of potential, and it,s always good to have another good band join the ranks. More fun for everybody involved.

Perfect.. Both bands loud so this is a battle of Sound, Quality and selection, and I gotta give it to Southern hands down.. Their arrangements are far more superior. But it was very smart of Tc to locate themselves closer to the crowd at the bottom of the bleachers almost at eye level.. Even if Southern and Tc were at the Exact same volume, Location, Location location is Key. They're damn near right in front of the crowd, while Southern is further up and further back. Tc is very very good at being aware of where they position themselves to maximize their intensity. you gotta respect that about them.. Like at the Parades how they position their Btones to make sure nothing is in front of them and was 1 level off the ground.. I keep protesting so Southern can Understand It don't matter if you have the Baddest Band in America, If you're not in the right position and set up where you're fully heard, none of that matters and it defeats the Purpose.. I already know over all SU and TC are about equal when it comes to power, But TC placed themselves at an Advantage by being aware of the crowd and where to position themselves. This is Very important,. but again over all this was not a Power Battle but a Quality, Selection and Arrangement battle, so this def. goes to Su.

personally think Dega should spend more time cleaning up their sound. They have improved, but still have a long way to go. The Boom has taken a stumble this year, but I still don't think is ready for them.I think TXSU would a good match-up for them.

Hmm, the Sonic Boom of the South is definitely my fan favorite for the swag factor alone. Yeah, their sound is not as powerful this year even though the band's numbers has grown significantly. I agree Dega should focus on cleaning up their sound, but I think they should find something they're good at and begin to build unique traditions. This is a highly defining factor of marching bands. One thing I like about Dega is their sectional horn flashes. They seem tight in that regard. That is something to remember them by.... TXSU, is a strong band.. But they would get malled by Taledega... Ijs...

TC has so much potential but needs finessing and create their own identity. They feel like a baby Southern to me. Which isn't exactly a bad thing, but no one does SU better than SU lol. TC needs to improve dynamically and they will be fine. Alcorn,Southern, and Miles gave TC work.

I'm a member of 2007 Ocean and TC reminds me of us back then. We were just amazing back then. I've been missing that connection with TxSU lately because I know my band but when I hear TC, I envision how we used to sound.. Just happened to come upon this video and this is my first time seeing talladega (i marched in 99')....to be honest, i didnt know talladega had a band?, but they sound pretty decent...they kind of remind me of MoB before they were disbanded....hope there school can field a football team and not just play at band shows...OAN, both bands sound good, but SU with their last 3 to 4 arrangments were unreal to say the least...in the end, its always good to hear good bands in the stands

TC has improved. But they have a long way to go before they can hold a candle to SU. Volume isn't everything. SU has volume, but at the same time clean, and balanced(mostly lol). SU's arrangements are 2ND to none. I'm a die hard sonic boom fan, but SU is in a different area code than anyone else.

In actuality, no, 'Dega's not on the same level as SU. Dega is a band w/o a football team so, there is no prepping for next Saturday's game for them--where as SU and many other HBCUs do. If there was a full season for them, I think their band would be a lot better. I see a lot of bandheads and bandfans putting them down and constantly comparing them to SU and their drum majors to JSU's "J5". There is no comparison. But, keep in mind that they're fairly new at this--and still not afraid to battle a band like SU, who holds such a superior status among HBCUs. Not just anyone can get a chair in SU's band. Only the best of the best can earn a chair--where as Talladega is marching with 2nd & 3rd chair members. 'Recruiting hasn't picked up for them just yet. They receive their publicity by marching in other HBCU's events. For a beginner's band I think their pretty good. And, once their drum majors become more confident, they're gonna be something serious! So, I'll give it up for 'Dega because even as a beginner's band they are a lot better than HBCU's in weaker conferences (Stillman, Clark of Atlanta, Bowie State, Kentucky State, etc.)

The fact that people are saying these bands sound alike is a huge discredit to Southern just based on band size alone. Southern is clearly the larger band here, but TC holds there own throughout. When I hear the "No Body Does It Better" intro it's like an atomic bomb of sound went off in my head. I simply love the power of that song. Still, my question for Talladega is: What in God's name are ya'll feeding those Baritone players!? They seem to out blow the entire band at times! #KudosDega!

listen to the sound and balance of the programs.... you can't deny su is the more established better band. tc loud right but when they fine tune their players. when they listen to each other, when they adjust their tuning as a program, they will be on a SU level. until then it's a great and loud program..

The difference between Southern and TC is you actually have to audition to be in Southern band that's why Southern sounds so polished you can't jus walk on and say you wanna be in the band like TC.... Southern staff pick and choose who makes the cut I'm more than sure most of TC players are walk-on that's why the sound quality is different..... so to answer your question TC would of be a lot better wit Southern staff because they know what they looking for!!!

JSU doesn’t follow another bands sound unlike dega they new to this they jumped in the game dick riding southern style JSU still uses 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th trumpets where maybe 10 trumpets playing the same thing!!!
