I've wanted to make a Nomad beginners character course for ages. We do sell one but I wanted to make sure anyone who isn't in a position to purchase that can still get into making cool characters in Nomad Sculpt. I really take me time in this first one and that the sort of pace I'm going to maintain in these beginner videos.

Just getting into Nomad and I'm interested in a course (now that cozyblanket AND UV unwrapping is available) where you go from Nomad to finished product for either a 3d print or game development (using mixamo with the retopo model). I know you have videos kind of covering these aspects individually but a full project based course would be amazing.

@SouthernGFX2 жыл бұрын
Mouths are tricky until you learn a few of those tricks then it’s a breeze from then on. If you learn the anatomy in terms of the fatty bits and the plane changes it gets much easier very quickly. And new artists always make a mouth flat instead of wrapping it around a face.

just for those budget conscious, i use nomad sculpt on my samsung s6 lite which cost me $250 (including the pen and the cover). Nomad sculpt has been a treat for on the go 3d sculpting (max ram is 2.6 gb - but thats plenty for a beginner). Disclaimer, i primarily use irl clay and also have a pc that I could use for blender. But all i use these days is my samsung s6 lite, me clay over there collecting dust. sigh. great tutorial btw!

Really love your tutorials! Just exponentionally improved by watching you work! Do you think, perfecting Nomad can be taken to a professional level? I think, in general learning Blender or C4D for example is a must, to truly level up, but I just wanna hear your opinion on this! Keep up the great work!
@SouthernGFX Жыл бұрын
Not even close. It is essential that you add full polygonal modeling, retop and loads more skills/tools and features to cope in a professional environment. Nomad is one of the best ways to start digital sculpting but moving on is essential. We use ZBrush and Cinema4D mostly but the C4D part can be blender, Modo, Maya, Max etc. whatever works best for what you want to do. We use Maxon Cinema4D as our main tool because our main client (SKY) uses that for almost all jobs. I love Blender but it isn’t even close to being able to handle what ZBrush can when sculpting. For everything other than sculpting Blender is now exceptional but still under represented in industry. Nomad is a gateway drug into the world of 3D sculpting and it’s used by professionals to allow them to still sculpt when away from the desk. Thanks for the kind words. Means a lot and make me want to keep making content.
@ShurikeBoy Жыл бұрын
@@SouthernGFX Thank you for your honest answer! Nomad feels the most intuitive for me and I wanted to get a grasp on 3D-Modelling with it, because I still feel intimidated by more complex softwares. But what you are saying makes so much sense. Thank you so much.

Is there a way to smooth the mesh but relax it? I know you showed smooth but if you look carefully it's not clean I find that you can't have a completely smooth curved surface and there's always this result of being able to very slightly see the strokes even after smoothing.

Lots if programs do it differntly. The reason 3D Print software developers chose Z as the vertical was because of the travel direction. It usually means that a model comes into the slicer sofware at the wrong orientation. Even Maya and Max (Both autodesk) have a different Y which is mental. Nomad is like ZBrush and Maya which for me is the norm, Y up, X left and right and Z in and out as in 'Z Depth' and the even the etomolgy of the name ZBrush I suppose :)
