For those who do not like sour cream, trust me- you will love this king cake.. Actually, that is the only way to make the best king cake, that rivals Randazzo's. The sour cream keeps the cake from being to doughy and you don't even taste it. It bakes into the dough

My first time making a King cake and even though I had only one pack of yeast, this turned out absolutely delicious. The bread flour really makes a difference. I got many compliments. Thank you for the recipe!!!!!

I'm making my very first Kings cake. Fortunately, I was able to purchase the Mam Papaul's King cake and it comes with everything, even the baby at the World Market. Thanks to UTube I've been able to watch how to market it, so I'm not nervous at all. It comes with the brown sugar praline mix, but I think I'm going to add a little cinnamon too. Wish me luck.

Who finds the baby brings the next cake the next week or even when that one runs out. It might have be been a year wait 30 years ago. But we love our king cake down here. Try as many as we can during the season. Yum! I’m going to try this one! Thanks so much.

So it’s just a cinnamon roll circle. In Norway we call this a Kringle . To make it prettier we make cuts in the dough with scissors before we bake it😊 Sometimes we form it like pretzel in stead . A very traditional cake in Norway.

I made this and I have a little feedback. In the video portion, you said to use 1/2 cup of sugar for the sour cream mixture but the recipe had 1/3 cup. I assumed it was 1/2 cup. The other thing is that the icing called for 3 cups of powdered sugar but that was not nearly enough to get a thick icing that will stick to the the cake. I used at least 6 cups of powdered sugar and it still didn't stick to the cake like i wanted it to so it didn't have enough sweetness due to a lack of icing. The icing tasted great though, I just wish I could get more on it.

Not a problem. I showed my culinary teacher a picture of my king cake and she was so impressed that she asked me to remake it in front of a class of other culinary students. The dough is so soft and forgiving, great recipe!

As a person who lives in Louisiana, I like all king cake flavors but I know some people don't like cream cheese. If you don't, some people also put lemon, or jelly in the middle.

There is something about the dough for a king cake that has to be right...it can't be just any dough...maybe the sour cream is what I was missing from my other tries...I did get close with one of the tries but quit because I couldn't find the right recipe...guess I need to try this one...need to make the second one with jelly with a strip of cream cheese next to it...I do love a good king cake but haven't been back to New Orleans sense I went to visit my sister with my mom and other sister just before Katrina hit
