Oh yes, I'm amazed. I have a low-end pc (i5-8400, GTX 1050 2GB) and this new version of Cycles is the best thing that could happen in a while. It renders so much faster!

I use GTX 1650 which is mid end gaming GPU ,I bought Acer nitro 5 with i5 10 gen ,and this year that same amount could have bought me i5 11 gen with rtx 3060 😔 but cycles X saved alot of frustration 😊

I love Blender for making such big update in cycles ,before that render time is way too much but after Blender updated cycles to cycles x render times is 1/10 of previous render time ,in cycles I used to take 1024 samples which takes usually 1 hour for a single still frame now I take 4096 samples which takes 10 minutes for one frame ,way more faster ,

that's a nice machine. 3080m with double the ram. i upgraded from a 940m cuda slideshow to a 3060m, recently. massive increase in performance. i'm mostly impressed how well 3.0 and optix handles emissive mesh materials these days. they were noisy af in the past. renders some fine lightsabers now. :)

Just a note: While you can still lower samples a bit, it's more effective to use the noise threshold in most scenarios. You can often increase it to 0.02 or 0.03 and see nearly the same speed as lowering samples, but higher overall path resolution

I've gone from 2:20 to 30 sec for a scene I'm working on. With a 5 seconds gap between 2048 and 1024 tiles size. (in favor of the latter) rendered with RTX 2070 optix, that's a significant time saver for 250 frames of animation 😁😁 Btw, I just updated and noticed there was no auto tile size addon anymore, do you know more about why that might be? It might be a good thing, cause I got complacent with tweaking my render settings and relied to much on auto tiles addon in that department! Anyway, great video as always! Your renders look amazing! 🤩🤩

The only thing that shocked me in the 3.0 update was that in previous versions i could render via Optix (i have an RTX 3060 laptop) but now it says i don't have a compatible GPU. Which is understandable, if they totally changed the render mechanics but the extra rendering speed up is anulated by the fact i can render "just" via Cuda now.

i REALLY need help as blender 3.0 is SLOWER for me and only uses my gpu while 2.93 uses all cpu cores as well as gpu. my tile size is set to 200 and takes 50 seconds as the default takes 1:20 while the 2.93 takes only 40 seconds to render. I really wanna us blender 3.0 but the slower rendering plus im used to the dozen tiles all wrorking to make an image I actually use 2.93 to render as it is faster and more farmilar to me.

And I am sure there are many character and environment modelers out there, who don’t want to worry about uv mapping. I hope you're going to encounter success! UV mapping is the equivalent of rotoscopy in compositing, people kind of want to outsource that sometimes.

Tilesize is really dependent on the kind of GPU. But indeed do test and do a lot of them. save them all with times and add settings you applied per image so you can review it easy

Am a noob when it comes to blender, but when I was using the older version with adaptive sampling it would calculate how many samples it need and render them, so a regular scene would render in 20- 30 seconds, but with Blender 3.0 i have to manually put the amount of samples and it now render the same scene in 2-4 minutes. @@ДмитроПрищепа-д3я it's at the default but I lowered the maximum render sample from 4025 to 1025 and the threshold I didn't change it, I think it's at 0.01 Isnt there an option like the old days where blender determine the threshold and render samples

@@ThinkForward0 I don't think there is. Threshold already does that, the amount of samples you set there is the maximum amount that can be rendered if the noise doesn't go away to the threshold. So, if your scene is especially noisy, you can lower the maximum number of samples even more to like 128 or 64. Or set the noise to 0.1. What are your specs, btw? And does blender properly load your pc when rendering?

In the old blender It would render noisy image very quickly and then I would apply denoising node and it doesn't cost any time. Now the image comes out crisp but it takes forever

This extremely depends on your rendering hardware and on the scene you're willing to render. You know, 10x faster GPU will give you way better results in some given time. S thing for the scene : when you have an open scene with a few objects that are lit from all sides, you don't really need that many samles and time, but when you're trying to render a completely enclosed interior, especially softly lit, you need a *lot* of samples and time for it to look somewhat acceptable. I think you should just try out different renders with different times and see yourself how your hardware performs in such times :)

After that I rendered again and found that the two version of render engine is taking literally the same time. It is not getting fast like everyone. What should I do now?

Public Service Announcement. New users please stay away from ANY AMD GPUs for blender. Besides the performance being terrible compared to NVIDIA, AMD does not even support features such as raytracing and will drop support for hardware whenever it feels like. I’m actually disappointed with Blender 3 and I switched back to Blender 2.9 because... well, the Asset Browser is a piece of crap. I still append all I want from the project files where I keep assets. It’s easier and faster. Cycles X doesn’t render any faster. And the worst thing is that old versions of Blender addons won’t work in Blender 3. The addons I paid for. This is very disappointing.
