I'm working on a film with a lot of artists and we want it to be as realistic as possible. Then this video came up and it helped a lot! The only problem we have is to get the real life proportions right and to model texture and rig realistic humans So this video supported our learning path a lot! Thank you very much and keep up the good work!

So isn't one of the points of showing clay/viewport shots from photorealistic posts to prove it was done in Blender and not perhaps just real? In a way this sounds as if it was removed because it looked real.
@swapnil39902 ай бұрын
@@gordonbrinkmann Of course it looks too real. When a work begins to even approach photorealism (say when people actually begin to take a while to realise it's CG or don't realise it at all), a clay render is necessary to erase those doubts. People won't take your artwork seriously if they can't be certain it was made in blender.
@gordonbrinkmann2 ай бұрын
@@swapnil3990 I never said anything different or doubted that. The original comment said it wasn't removed for looking too real, it was removed for not showing a clay render or viewport display. And that's what I meant and you affirmed in your answer: if it can be mistaken for real without a clay render, then Kaizen wasn't actually wrong in his video saying it was removed for looking too real, even though the given reason might be "technically" different.

Great tutorial & a huge subject that has so many chapters for 3d artists to learn about "realism" If I were to give upcoming 3d artists one piece of advise it would be "Draw what is there not what you think is there, stay focused on your reference & not your interpretation, it's the imperfections not the perfections that make a realistic image" Cheers 👍🏼🦘

About the Camera chapter. I've seen a lot of people try to mimic photorealism, but instead of staying in the true realistic setting, they choose to use settings which look "pleasing to the eye" such as increased chromatic aberration, too strong vignette or lens distortion, too strong grain etc. And not gonna lie, I was also using too cranked settings at first until I realized the renders actually look far better if those tiny details remain tiny and not amplified. All the points in this video matter A LOT, but I feel like the camera or "lens" settings should get so much more attention. When it comes to photoscanning, I've been using Polycam and ScandyPro. Polycam is a common pick because of how easy it is to use and I do love using it, but if possible, it's somewhat better to pick a tool / software that can utilize a phone's LiDar (that is in case the phone has LiDar). LiDar scanning uses tiny lasers that bounce back and feed info, it can actually be far more superior in terms of level of detail. Only downsides I've experienced so far are that LiDar is not on every device, mostly on newer devices (my iPhone 12 has it) and even if the phone might have it, it might only be on the front (selfie) camera so having to turn your phone away and not see where you're pointing it at is very uncomfortable.
@KaizenTutorials2 ай бұрын
I completely agree camera's deserve far more attention, but I also stand by my point of a simple camera can go a long way if the subject and lighting are on point! Maybe in the future 'll do a dedicated camera vid. As for the scanning; KIRI actually has LiDar scanning, available in the pro plan! Sadly my iPhone 15 doesn't have it, since i didnt get the pro verison.
@radikalcreates2 ай бұрын
@@KaizenTutorials You sure? Your phone uses LiDar when you want to open your phone with FaceID feature meaning you still have it, but probably only on the front camera like mine has. One of the reasons I want those Pro models is to get LiDar on the back camera.
