AMANDA where are your sasquatch ??? When i farmed we always had sasquatch sleep with the cows and they liked the caving barn ... warmer . Have seen them eat grain with the weaned calves .... they were never a problem ... sometimes a little scary ... the big boy was 10 1/2 or 11 ft tall and 4 or 5 ft wide . He would stand with his arm on the car garage roof and his head wad as tall as the garage peak ....so he was a big one and really black and as i said harmless . Greys about 8 or 9 ft and little shaggy browns about 5 ft tall .

the only problem with feeding screening is you will end up with a big weed patch with weeds you have never had and no chem will kill!!

@@SouthSaskFarmer1 bought 5 steers to feed and finish for butchering and to supplement their barley - oats and hay ration i got some next to free screenings from a seed cleaning plant , ended up with some very hard to kill wild oats and herbicide resistant kochia in the field I spread the manure . spent a pile on chem !! to clean up that mistake!!

Nick have you raised Spelts??? I grow about 35-40 acres every year. Nice clean straw and perfectly balance feed to start calves on. They have enough fiber it is about impossible for a calf to founder on them but about twice the protein as oats. Nice first calf of the season.

Bodes well for a good calving season. What do you do with the afterbirth? We used to compost it into the manure but it draws the predators and that is not good with little calves around.

Hard to beat the old iron!! Have 2 4020 diesel and a 4450 and they sit 99% of the time because the 8r and the gen before the 8345rt and 9570rt along with the 9460r are the main horses… makes me sad seeing the oldies but the best ones sitting and rotting in a snowbank
