1989 Box Chevy Build Ep.63 G-Force B-Body Trans Crossmember & 4L80E Transmission Install!!!

KZbin! In this long episode I'll be getting the transmission cleaned up and installed. I got the G-Force B-Body Trans crossmember after trying to cheap out and get one from another company, it did not fit. I also got an exhaust builder kit from speed engineering that I unboxed, video coming for that soon. After finishing up some things from last episode I got around to fighting that trans and heavy crossmember and got them installed. Stay Tuned In Much More To Come........

You would want the TIG Welded. Mig, you will definitely need a GOOD welder if you want it pretty.

That yolk on the transmission won't work. It must be a slip yolk. When the rear moves up and down the shaft will slide in and out.if it doesn't move it will blow the trans case apart. Remove the bolt at the end and pull the yolk off. Some 4l80e the spline on the mainshaft is not long enough to accept a slip yolk only that perminant yolk. You have to do some investigation if the transmissions mainshaft is compatible. Option1 replace transmission. Option2 take trans apart and swap mainshafts. Option3 custom driveshaft that has a slipjoint in the middle of the shaft.

I believe its possible but then again i think those factory mounting points keeps everything straight/level for the drivetrain. It shouldn’t be too hard for me to slide it back a inch or so!! That’s why i try to find things that are for that car to make it a lil easier on myself with limited equipment
