You had a great Air Crew ...nice takeoff and landing. BTW, the B737 700s and 800s (pre-max) all were certified ETOP capable and were flying overwater routes many years ago. I noticed upon arrival, it must have been Southerly winds because you were taxiing east to West , the Ocean was on your left. Usual Tradewinds blow ENE so landings usually are conducted West to East. Southwest is welcomed in Hawaii and I know they will be happy serving this route.

Thanks for watching! Yeah when we were coming in I was surprised that we came in runway 26L instead of the normal 8L. I'm also very grateful that southwest is now serving Hawaii and Inter-Island routes because now i don't need to worry about Hawaiians $400 dollar fares to hop islands.

Ah....the "Reef" runway :) And yes it's a VERY long taxi to the terminal. The "Reef" runway was constructed as an alternate landing site for the Space Shuttle.

The ocean is beautiful. I live in Vacaville, once in a while ill take Amtrak Capital Corridor to San Jose for the ride. You get a good view of SJC arrivals right in front of the train station.

Before Covid I counted 29 wide body arrivals in HNL from Japan and Korea and perhaps China A DAY as well as a few to other islands that could handle them. Today there are only a handful despite many restrictions having been lifted. After the war with American occupation there were a great many who learned English, today there are far fewer which must present a real challenge to Hawaiians meaning that guides may have to be brought in for communication, assuming relatively Hawaiians can communicate in the various languages. Other than from the Pacific rim states relatively few Americans may be coming given the distance and expense. What other industry does HA have?

i was also on a 737- 800 heart livery but i was on the right side and that flight took 6 hours to get me from Las Vegas to Baltimore and my next flight which was a 737-700 the new version took only an hour to get me from Baltimore to Rhode Island

Another nice vlog but it would have been nice to see SW's food/beverage service and maybe a little of HNL's terminal. One other suggestion is when you are sitting on the plane and going nowhere there is no point showing that to us unless something is going on in the background. Thanks!

Ryan Strnad they are using the 737-800 not max trams pacific. Back when, aloha airlines used that 737-700 on their USA mainland trans pacific flights

Southwest has some 737-800 are ETOPs certified (pretty much meaning they can fly on one engine for longer periods of time). So they have aircraft that can make the journey and I’m pretty sure they were going to use the 737-800 before the MAX when flying to Hawaii.
