Soviet Cruiser "Mikoyan" Review - World of Warships Blitz

This may be a new ship, or it's been out already previously and I just never got around to reviewing it, as some of you mentioned, but either way, it's a Kirov / Projekt 26 prototype, so let's see what she can do with those 180s.

I got this ship day 1 of the update, and I really like it. I do find Kirov more fun, but the spotter plane helps quite a lot

You can get the Soviet camouflage by completing the sea farers journey II primary collection book. To complete you’ll need to spend 1500 gold on Pensacola’s historical camo and 500 gold on the New York port - so effectively you can buy the better camo for 2000 gold. Hope that helps!

Terry, those 2 Mikoyan you mention is indeed brother. 1 as powerful politician from early USSR or before Stalin era until Nikita Khruschev and 1 of it is aircraft engineer. And they were both glorified as hero back at Armenia in present days Btw, nice review of the boat mate. Just would like to see how you deal the dd with this boat. Either i'm wrong or indeed its AP shell got tendency to overpen in close range

It is older than 6.5, during the event containing FR25 (bootleg guepard), this was part of a 2000-ish gold pack along with a premium pass and a couple other things

The best captains for the Miko are the soviet main DD line because they have rapid reload. As for the special camo, you can get it free if you can fill the seafarers journey II collection. I was missing the New York Port, but it only cost me 500 gold to complete it. It's a better camo than the historical, well worth it.

@leungyannis7204 You're right. I forgot about that one. I've had the Pensacola camo from year one and don't even remember if I won it in an event or bought it. I've kept every single US ship from tier 4 up because majority of them were real ships.

For me it's better alternative of Kirov. It's AP struck deep into cruiser's (or lightly armored battleship) citadel. It is good trainer for Russian heavy cruiser line (starting from Tallinn to Petropavlovsk) and the second, Russian destroyer line (starting from Gnevny) to destroyer leader line (starting from Tashkent). Which all have rapid reload skill. Maybe this ship can give you the feels like Petropavlovsk?

I haven't played Kirov in ages, but I think Mikoyan takes a bit of skill. You need to know when to use the RR, because when that's on cooldown, the dps drops and she needs to be defensive. I've seen a fair amount of players just rushing forward and get killed. But certainly a good ship

So frustrated! Ever since the update I haven't got to play a single game, always downloads then starts decompressing and gives me a Failed To Download icon. I've contacted support but they didn't seem to wanna help even though I've spent 100s on this game 😡

I'd recommend a clean reinstall (i.e. uninstall / clear data & cache, and then install again through play store / app store). This usually does the trick. Also make sure you have enough space on the device such that the downloaded additional files can be unpacked.

Yep, those Soviet 180s are pretty good, especially at this tier. You'll actually find a fair few battleships that have pretty thin deck armour...

Played against u in a match, no wonder u hurt my Nürburg u had the APCS skill

even without APCS, these are 180mm Soviet guns, they hit pretty hard. I think with RR on, this ship would be about on par with Nürnberg from a firepower perspective.

In a Nürnberg, I would probably engage from mid-range with AP & kite. The base reload is pretty long, and there are only 6 guns, so once RR is on cooldown, you have a pretty distinct advantage in firepower.
