Yes they are and also there was some very unorthodox tactics used by the Soviet Russians including 1 of T-34's ramming Tiger tanks instead of shooting them. Also may want to look into many other topics like RPG-7's, C4 explosive, AK-47, PKM and DSHK machine guns and who knows many other topics.

At the military Museum in Vienna there's a Su-100 with what I assumed was the worst weld I have ever seen, but as this vehicle is a former pedestal mount as the first tank to enter Vienna 1945 and was knocked out by a Panzerfaust shortly thereafter, killing its crew, it might well be that the poor quality weld on the rear superstructure was a superficial restoration as a memorial, not representative of production standards

There was a great movie about SU-100 crew, about young officer being assigned to command veterans and it depicts tankers life during second half of Great Patriotic War. Some jokes, some personal drama, PTSD fighting and winning. No good ending here, of course. "На войне как на войне" (1968) I hope English version exists.

it is kind of funny how remarkably similar the two are in appearance but then again they are both based off of a medium tank chassis using a heavily sloped front plate so they were designed off very similar premise as form follows function.

You sill made a joke and I got it. The Soviets did make some great tanks in WW2. The T-34 chassis was probably the best of all the Allied armour. And the Soviets adapted it for many vehicle types as you have shown. It some aspects it was crudely made but it was 'grimly functional', and it was fast and easy to produce. Thanks for posting this.

Yet still it can obliterate a house or a bunker/trench.its immune to small arms fire and can pierce trough bradley's aluminum armor like its a butter or disable m1 abrams by hitting scopes or tracks, probaly even destroy it with a rear hit .You can also use it to destroy trucks and other objects of importance like radar stations for example. So tell me how is it obsolete exactly? Its not new technology but if you use it correctly its still a tank.

Good video!!! Perhaps the SU-85 & SU-100 that are being portrayed as German vehicles in war movies were actually Beute Panzers, captured enemy vehicles pressed into German service. Granted that the average movie-viewer would not know that. Just a FAR-FETCHED thought on my part!!! LOL!! But yep, just like using American armor during the 1960s-1970s as German vehicles with just a coat of grey paint and some markings. Have a 1:35 scale plastic model of an SU-100 painted up in German camo/markings - looks great!!
