Best friend who was obsessed with this song passed last Sunday by hanging himself. Brought me back to this one. Tell those you care about you love them.

thank you for sharing your story may he rest and find what he lost during his time on earth, I wish you nothing but healing and growth as well. in the end we all come together, that thought comforts me in the face of loss

Deepest condolences friend ; I sincerely hope that a year on, the pain does not burn so harsh. This song borrows some verses from 'If' by Rudyard Kipling; my flatmate who has become my sister, is equally obsessed with this poetry piece. She even has a tattoo drawing inspiration from it, including the line "Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’". She is sadly a longterm alchoholic, has been actively aiming to drink herself to death for the past two decades. I think that poem resonates with her so deeply as a reason to hold on to living. Kipling wrote this piece as a tribute & an example of Victorian stoicism, circa 1895. Yet time is irregardless, the words are innately human. I cannot help cure her illness, she is so stubborn, beyond the point of no return. But I can sow seeds with the hope they bloom into reasons to hold on. We should hold on. And hold onto our loved ones. Emotionally & physically.

I speak from experience (both 1st and 2nd hand) if someone attempts to make a connection with you by sharing this, please-please appreciate it and endeavor to further understand. More than you’d think that extend the proverbial olive branch with this song are already on the ledge.
